Hotel de France et de Chateaubriand

I walk around and inside this property because I saw so picturesque in a quaint corner of Pl Chateaubriand,and was impressed with the cleanneatness and friendly attitude of the staff while walking around.
I would consider using it on longer stay trips to the city, and think you wont be disappointed to stay here.

It has a wonderful restaurant of traditional French cuisine.

Unique Quality: great views right by the chateau in a quaint plaza very colorful, gorgeous in and out. 5 minutes walking from train station.

We stayed for three nights last week (December 2006) in this wonderful hotel. It's a very comfortable 2 star hotel, opposite the castle of Saint-Malo, overlooking the sea on one side and a lovely circus on the other (most hotels in Saint-Malo have either a harbour view or no view at all). It is the oldest hotel of Saint-Malo with lovely 19th century style furniture. I found this hotel totally by chance on the internet and choose it because they have a special offer for the month of December: 3 nights, breakfast included for 174 euros. This is very cheap as the normal fare is around 100 euros per night, but even at 100 euros it's worth going there. We had a very spacious room with two windows looking out on to the ramparts and the sea. If you want a sea view, ask for the third or fourth floor.
The staff was extremely friendly and professional. As for the breakfast, it was enormous with high quality food. They also have a beautiful restaurant which we did not try.
I highly recommend this hotel to VT members. The special offer runs till end December 06, so go for it NOW.
