Friendly hotel with great sea views

I stayed at the 2* Hotel Les Acacias during a weekend break to Saint-Malo in June 2008.

I booked this hotel via www.booking.com and paid 65 Euros per night for a single room with en-suite facilities, without breakfast.

Location

Hotel Les Acacias is located right on the seafront towards the end of the long, sandy Plage du Sillon beach. The hotel is located directly on the seafront promenade, with direct access to the beach, and is a pleasant 25-30 minutes walking distance from the centre of town.

There are a number of shops, cafes and restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk of the hotel.

If, like me, you are arriving in Saint-Malo via the nearby airport at Dinard, then a taxi or a hire car is the only way to reach the hotel. There are no public transport links between Dinard Pleurtuit Airport and Saint-Malo. I paid 24 Euros for the 20 minute taxi ride from the airport to the hotel. At the end of my stay, I asked the receptionist to book a taxi for me, and paid 35 Euros for the journey back to the airport.

Bedroom

My single room contained a comfortable bed, a large double wardrobe, a table and chairs, a telephone and a TV with a handful of satellite channels (including BBC1 and Eurosport). On a hot summer weekend, the room was very well air-conditioned, although there was no way for guests to individually control the room temperature.

Some rooms have sea views, but mine was at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park.

The en-suite bathroom contained a small bathtub, a shower, a toilet, a washbasin and a mirror. Clean towels and a small selection of toiletries were provided. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and there was always hot water when I required it.

Overall, the room was clean and comfortable. It was perfectly adequate for the short amount of time that I spent in there, and I would be more than happy to stay there again.

General

The staff at Hotel Les Acacias were friendly and helpful and spoke English almost perfectly. Upon arrival, I was provided with a key to both my room and the property’s main door, enabling me to enter and leave the building outside of the reception’s operating hours.

A continental breakfast can be purchased for an additional 7.50 Euros per person per day. This is served in the ground floor dining area which overlooks the beach. There is also a bar area and an outdoor terrace right by the promenade, with great sea views.

A friendly beachside hotel with clean, comfortable rooms and outstanding sea views. Recommended!
