At Beaugency Is An Old Loire Crossing Near Orleans
"The Small City is Close to the Bridge"
It is a short distance from the river bank of the Loire where we parked up to the streets that led to the most important sites in the town. Jutting up ahead was the Tower of Cesar, which is the 11C remains of the Donjon of the castle and fortifications. What remains is a rectangular buttressed structure five stories high (much like the one at Loches) whose roof was destroyed in the Wars in the 1560 period. Pilaster strips remain as examples of decoration and some window spaces.
