If you descend into the Pl.Victor Hugo to look at the outer facade of the Francois I Wing, you are in a pleasant park-like area. At the far end is a Jesuit-style church built in the17C by that order. We did not have time to go in but did admire its graceful facade.
Rennaissance: The Francois I wing 1515-1524
Built less than fifteen years after the Louis XII wing, the Francois I wing is a brilliant illustration of the rapid stylistic evolution towards a decoration inspired by Italy but still applied to a traditional French structure.
This royal city on the Loire is rich in monuments, history and culture. It was the birthplace of Louis XII (1462). Blois has a long history of aristocratic intrigue and bloody royal politics.
It’s a nice city, full of charming chateaus and great old town….
Start from Chateau de Bloir, old town, Maison de la Magie, Cathedrals and cafes….
