Self-catering in Bourges--Apartelia?

by smeans2

Thanks to all who helped me with the bus/train to Chartres problem. Now I am looking for a self-catering apartment in Bourges (the way I prefer to travel), but I have only found a residential hotel called Apartelia on rue du Prinal. Can anyone tell me anything (good or bad) about the place? Is there any other way to find a short-stay apartment (four nights)?

From the official tourist info site for Bourges it seems that self-catering accommodation in the town is in very short supply (well, non-existent);

I think you may be stuck with Apartelia unless you choose a b&b/hotel.

You can try a couple things. First, check Gites de France. They have B&Bs and also small cottages and apartments all over France. We've used them often and have never had a problem. http://www.gites-de-france.com/gites/uk/rural_gites

Another, perhaps more useful for a 4-day stay is the Logis de France which is a chain of small family-owned hotels all over France. These are usually quite reasonable, very clean, friendly, centrally located and with good restaurants. http://www.logishotels.com/en/

One very reasonable Logis de France in Bourges is the Hotel le Christina and their web address is http://www.le-christina.com/

You could also try VRBO (Vacation Rentals By Owner) and see if they have anything for you. http://www.vrbo.com

Also, type Bourges into the VT Search Window above and check the Tips for Hotels and Accommodations. Often people list apartments and B&Bs in addition to hotels.

Good luck. Enjoy Bourges. It's a lovely small city. You might also check Jeannette1's Travel Page for Bourges as her mother lives very near there and she has good information on Bourges.

Cathedrale Saint-Etienne de Bourges

by black_mimi99

Cathedral of Saint-Etienne in Bourges, used to call Cathedral of Bourges, is located about 200km south of Paris.
Cathedral of Bourges had peculiar style in contrast with Cathedral of Chartres which became a starting point of the typical French Gothic style.
