Our stay was very comfortable. We had a room on the first floor with double french doors and a private balcony overlooking the Loire. There were two comfortable chairs in the room and we were able to sit and watch the rain from our room as well as two fisherman catching dinner. The bathroom was devine with double sinks and a huge modern bathtub. You could actually take a bath and see the Loire out the window. It felt like you were floating.
Great views, great bathroom, spacious and comfortable.
This French campgound is well run, with polite hosts who go out of their way to help their guests have a successful visit. The bathrooms are cleaned several times a day, has hot showers, basin to wash dishes, multiple private flush toilets. Your campsite will be on grass with an asphalt drive to park your car. Face your tent towards the castle and get ready for the lights to bathe the castle in golden tones. This IS a beautiful sight, one that must cost the town lots of money in electricity. Enjoy.
While in Chinon be sure and take in one of the many wine caves along the river. This won't be your typical wine tour.
Costs for staying in this campground are about average for French campgrounds.
If you look closely at the last photo, you can see tents through the trees.
