Travel Tips for Orléans

Moscow - Orleans 1995

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

The city is in a bendof Loire on a crossroads of the important trading ways. It was arisen in days of Roman empire. The city was destroyed by Caesar and restored by the emperor Avrelian. The name of the city occured on behalf of this emperor. In the end of the Xth century the city even was the capital of the Franc state.
In 1306 Phillip IV established the university in the city which became one of the most authoritative in Europe.
During the Centenary war at the walls of the city a solving fight against Englishmen took place. A defeat in this fight meant a partition of France. The removal of the siege happened, as it is considered, owing to Divine will as which conductor was Jeanne d'Arc.

It seemed to us, that saturation by the information reached its apogee, but this day we were waited still with Orleans. Really how all this will be located in our heads? Usually names of some cities necessarily associate with a prefix in our minds. If - Orleans, that means - New Orleans. If - York, that means - New York. And so, we directed to a simple Orleans, instead of New Orleans.
