Is it still there?

Is the Coligny caserne sill in use?Maison Forte?gvc

RE: Is it still there?

by jessfowler

Coligny Caserne is now used as the main adminstrative offices for the City of Orleans...if you were there earlier, you remember it as a main installation for the US Army - COMMZ USAREUR, complete with library, gym, commissary and allof the other amenities....no more, of course.

Maison Forte is similarly now completely dedicated to the manufacture and storage of a number of French Military Ammunition and Explosive devices. The old US American High School located there is a production office, the adminstration building is an entertainment center for visiting dignitaries...the baseball diamond is long gone....you'll not be able to visit Maison Forte, but you should be able to get into Coligny with no major problems (just tell them you want to register to pay your taxes!!
