We are going from Tours to Antibes in August. All the train schedules redirect you back to Paris then south to Antibes taking an average 8 hours. Can anyone suggest a different quicker route, not driving.
You can do Tours-Lyon and Lyon-Antibes. I do not know why but on the SNCF site, even if you feed Tours-Antibes via Lyon, they give it via Paris and Lyon. If you feed Tours-Lyon direct, you get it. However, it will be about the same time (5h + 4h + waiting time in Lyon) You will have to build yourself each leg of your itinerary. The only advantage is that in Lyon, both trains are in Part-Dieu station while in Paris, you will have to go from Montparnasse station to Gare de Lyon.

There are so many restaurants, you can try them all!
Anyway, you'll surely find something you like.
In the first time, pay attention the dishes are very big! I had problems to eat so much!
Very nice restaurants in Rue Colbert.
I love the St martin's basilica... I don't know why, but I think it's the nicest church of the city.
Nowadays, you can't enter inside, because there's only the main body of the basiica and some ruins, so it's not an open church but only a monument.
Near the basilica, you'll find a draw rapresenting how basilica was, and its history.
This is the first site I visited upon reaching Tours. I was walking around town in mid afternoon & the sky darkened. I approached the cathedral thinking it was the same one... a place of worship, same as any other churches I've ever been to in Europe, & I've been to many... but since it looked like it's going to pour & I've no umbrella with me (who needs an umbrella after that hot sun in Greece?!)... church it is.
It's a relief & a welcome to that impending storm...
we spend a great deal of time here i remember. but can not remember what was so special about the place . there must have been some thing that a young lady thought a great deal of. unfortunately she left this world shortly after the last trip
here at a very young age. so i can not ask her now.
