More about Best Western Hotel De La Paix
Much improved and highly recommended
by TripAdvisor Member slinky09
I have stayed at the La Paix a number of times in the past, it was getting tatty and the rooms definitely needed a refurb, but the location was always excellent.
Now it is highly recommended by this traveller - we stayed in a Privilege room in the new wing. A great room, with good decoration scheme and a very good bathroom with separate shower and bath - ideal when one half of a couple likes one or the other. The new bar is good, the outdoor pool is now indoor though smaller, the breakfast room expanded though perhaps a little industrial. The hotel has parking - it is not across the street - and is 12 euros a day (for 2 euros more than the public lot this traveller prefers the additional security, and ease of access by lift from the hotel foyer).
The staff were very helpful with no issues about English as a language.
Small gripes - there's a tv channel showing essentially porn, I don't want that and they should warn you, especially if you have children, the hotel has expanded business facilities and an at times quite loud convention was taking place during our stay, and the hotel restaurant's German theme may not appeal widely enough. These aside, it's location remains excellent and with the much improved facilities I should think 4* status can't be far away.
Great location

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights at the begining of May 2006. Located in the heart of this fabulous town - it is a very simple 10 minute walk from the train station through then cobbled pedestrian only boulevard.
The rooms are as you would expect from a Best Western - very nice. The indoor pool and spa area was a great place to relax.
During the evening we spent a few hours (perhaps too many!) in the Champgane house bar of the hotel. It has a great selection of Champagne, cocktails and spirits. All at a reasonable price.
The reception staff were nice but the real gems were in the bar - superb service.
When we get back to Reims I can't think of a better place to stay.
Small rooms in a great location
by TripAdvisor Member reddiguy
We only stayed here for one night, so did not use the hotel facilities such as pool, restaurants or bars, and cannot comment on these.
The hotel looked big, clean and airy from the front. It has a huge reception area. You can pre-book a place in the car park underneath (for an additional 10 Euros per night), which is recommended, since otherwise you would be at the mercy of trying to find a space on the roads outside.
Our room, which was pre-paid via Expedia, was ‘round the side’ of most of the hotel rooms a little way, accessed by a tiny elevator, that seemed to struggle with just two of us and our luggage.
The room was very small, but nicely decorated and very clean. It had a double bed, a bureau, a small television, and a fridge/mini-bar. It also had air conditioning, which was appreciated. The ensuite bathroom was spotlessly clean, and well stocked with towels and toiletries. It had nothing in the way of a view, other than buildings, but we didn’t really expect anything particularly scenic.
The hotel is in a good position, right next to the many restaurants and shops of the town centre.
Breakfast was not included in the price we paid. This was an extra 12 Euros each, so we did not bother.
Overall, the hotel was fine for our one-night stopover. We would stay there again, if ever we needed a place in Reims, since the location was excellent, and the hotel seemed to offer pretty good facilities overall.
Make sure you upgrade

We visited this place as an overnighter en-route back to Dover and we were impressed by the location. Having booked the hotel on a well-known search engine we were very disappointed with getting an older room around the left side of the hotel. Everything was very clean and the bathroom was fine but the older (cheaper) rooms are very small and quite depressing. That said, the staff were helpful and I would probably stay again, subject to paying for a room in the newer part...
Book it! Book it!

This is a beautiful hotel, nicely refurbished with plush carpets, marble and chandeliers. We stayed in a privilege room for two nights and would definitely recommend paying the £10 odd extra. We paid about £85 a night through expedia (no breakfast). This was the most practical hotel room I have ever stayed in; huge mirrors; a walk in room with a bath and sink which leads on to a separate cubicle with shower and toilet. Very handy for sharers. The rooms were spotless and large. Only issue we had was that the air conditioning was broke and I got the impression that happened a lot. Our room was 27 degrees all the time. However despite this, I still thought this was one of the best rooms I have stayed in.
There is a great bar downstairs. The bar staff are very friendly and do a great job. There was also a really friendly, helpful guy on reception.
If you have a car, park it in the public car park accross the street. The hotel has negotiated a special rate of six euros per day, instead of the usual 12 euros. Make sure you tell the hotel you have parked there in order to get this rate.
We had a fantastic meal at cafe flo. Come out of the hotel, turn right, which leads you onto the main restaurant strip, then turn left and walk to the end of the road. The best souffle I have ever had. Try it.
Ghastly but in the right place.

Actually the rooms weren't ghastly they were tiny but fine for one night - the bathrooms were pretty good. I think the owners must be in the process of smartening the place up and we stayed in a part of the hotel where the public areas hadn't been touched and they were really shabby but for the money we paid there aren't any complaints! The rest of the bits of the hotel we saw were very nice for what's obviously predominantly a conference hotel. Parking is beneath the hotel and very straightforward.
For a night it's perfect because you are right in the middle of the city - we ate in a French restaurant one street down towards the catherdral called La Vigneraie which was wonderful.
Great- central, quiet, clean, very modern
by TripAdvisor Member RachelandAnthony
Exactly what we needed, the rooms were recently renovated, the carpark is below the hotel and automatically let us in. They hotel delivered the right room for my family. The hotel was quiet.
The rooms were great for our needs, air conned clean, cotton sheets and all the staff were efficient and pleasant. We didn't eat here except for breakfast which was more like a trendy self service diner! And the hotel was centrally located. Very pleased
A gem of a hotel
by TripAdvisor Member BigAl9
This was a lovely hotel, which we chose off the recommendations off Trip Advisor and weren't disappointed. Used it as a stopover on the way to the Alps and were delighted with the position its very central and easy to find, the underground car park was ideal as it meant we didn't worry about the luggage left in the car. Only downside was that we booked 2 rooms but they weren't next to each other, the one to the left of the hotel was not quite as nice as the one to the right (it being a little older and no balcony) however, they were both spotlessly clean, spacious and modern in style (would request newer room if going again). Didn't eat breakfast as went round corner to main strip and had lovely continental breakfast for 7 euros sitting in the sunshine. Would definately use this hotel again. Reims is just a lovely city and the hotel matched it.
Cool & Comfortable
by TripAdvisor Member CaroleS
The hotel is in a great location in the centre of Reims. The rooms were on the small side but clean, comfortable and had recently been modernised. The public hotel areas were very chic and the staff helpful. The pool looked a bit on the small side and as there was a heatwave when we were there it was very crowded. Would definitely return to this hotel again - great value for money and couldn't fault it!
