by robine about Hotel Sully St Germaine
Very well-located, small rooms, agreeably decorated, pleasant service. Moderately priced at 130 euros a night (without breakfast, but with bath and shower - not bad for this expensive city). Recommended. Within walking distance of most attractions, eg Notre Dame.

The Meridien Part-Dieu formerly the Pullman Hotel)**** This is where I stayed, right in the town centre. It is the highest hotel in Europe above the city at a height of 108m, and has exceptional views over Notre dame de Fourviere and the Mont Blanc. The underground is only 200 metres away.
Beautiful Place in the Heart of the Old Town
by Kakapo2 about Hôtel Athanor, Beaune (Burgundy)
This hotel is a beautiful place in the heart of the old town, just some steps from the famous Hospices and Notre-Dame Basilica. Although it is a former 16th century residence it has all modern features you can expect of a good quality hotel.
All rooms are different, the furniture and decoration is very much in the historic style, and very well looked after. Everywhere you see exposed beams, and a lot of beautiful woodwork, also an open stone fire place in the lounge. I would clearly rate it higher than the 3 stars it has got, compared to other places I have been to. Browse the "Rooms" link on their website and you will understand what I mean.
Rates (as 2007):
Double room 95 EUR
Deluxe room 145 EUR
Family room 169 EUR

"Sheer Splendour"
This is the breathtaking stained glass window, which symbolises the essence of Notre Dame.
Cathedrale Notre Dame

Magnifique!
Simply awe-inspiring
A useful trick I've learned for shooting ceilings is to lay the camera on the floor and set it off via either timer or remote release.
The cathedral is Reims' most visible feature and can be seen from the autoroute. In June, unfortunately the cathedral was under renovation, as were many of the attractions throughout several cities we visited.

Notre Dame and It's Gargoyles
by Paul2001
These photos where all taken by me during my two trips to Paris. The first two where taken in May, 1987 on a very nice day hence the better lighting. The others where taken in November 1999. It was not a nice day. In fact the weather was miserable and I was underdressed for the cold. Just the same, I had a great time. It is hard not to in Paris.
This gargoyle actually is not one from Notre Dame but from a Gothic Church in the Latin Quarter.
