Tourist office
by Dabs
Stop by the tourist office if you need a map, need hotel reservations or want to visit a champagne house but didn't make advance reservations.
The people working there were extremely nice and helpful although they told us to take a bus between St. Remi's and Veuve-Clicquot which couldn't have been more than a 5 minute walk.
The tourist office is right next to Notre Dame, if you are coming from the train station, you should see it before you get to the entrance of the cathedral.
Musee Saint Remi - a city's history

Situated in a former (and beautifull) benedictine abbaye (it was also used as an hospital for a while), the musee saint-Remi (just beside the basilique Saint Rémi) features the rich town's history, from the neolithic to the XXth century (scultures, artefacts, weapons, tapestries, ...).
The building itself is worth the visit with some parts fom the XII the century and a delicious cloister.

Hotel le Vergeur (museum)
by Beausoleil
In France a Hotel is often not a place to rent rooms. It is (1) the Hotel de Ville or Town Hall or (2) a mansion of some importance. Many have become museums and are very interesting to visit. The Hotel le Vergeur in Reims has a complete, original series of prints of the Apocalypse and the Large Passion by Albrecht Dürer that we wanted to see, so we headed for the museum after touring the Cathedral and Palais du Tau.
The Hotel le Vergeur is right on the Forum Market Square with remains of an ancient Roman Forum underground across from it. The market square is lively during market but a pleasant place to spend an hour beside the fountains with a cool drink on a hot day when the market is over.
E-mail them at museelevergeur@wanadoo.fr
Open from 2:00pm to 6:00pm and from 10:00am to noon Tuesday to Friday in summer
Closed on Monday and May 1, July 14, November 1
Closed to the public from December 24 to January 2
It isn't mentioned on the museum web site but we discovered you must take a tour so you may have to wait or make an appointment. We were allowed to wait in the garden and it is lovely there. Tours are in French but our guide answered one gentleman's questions in English during the tour. Photos are allowed in the garden but not in the museum.
The museum web site is in French. You can look at an English web site at http://www.reims-tourism.com/museum-hotel-le-vergeur/commune/tabid/15267/offreid/25af2803-add0-46a7-948d-86b5fcd5e25b/museum.aspx
INSIDE THE ABBEY SAINT-REMI.....
by eden_teuling
The architect of this impressive & majestic Abbey was Louis Duroché.
The buildings date back to the 17th and 18th Centuries.
Very special is the façade à fronton de la cour d'honneur.
There is also a wonderful GRAND ESCALIER, a majestic flight of stairs where you can see a portrait of the young KING LOUIS XVth.
In the picture you see the CHAPTER HOUSE (17th & 18th Century) which is in the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE LIST!
The Abbey has remains that date back to the Middle Ages, which is very special and very worthy of your visit! You will enjoy it.
The Abbey is situated a few 100 meters away from the CATHEDRAL.

Place Royale
by MM212
Created in 1760 during a major urban planning project led by the engineer, Jean Gabriel Legendre, Place Royal is surrounded by typical Louis XVI architecture with straight lines and right angles. It is reminiscent of Place de la Concorde in Paris, which was created only a few years earlier, and is a contrast to the Gothic Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral in its background. The building on the south side, with a Neoclassical pediment, is known as l'Hôtel des Fermes and currently houses an administrative office of the local government.
