by LRADZIO

I find that apartment is very well located. The sight is splendid. All the museums are at side, the restaurants, the shops. I adore my stay there.

This Apartment to be rented is located in the historical centre and pedestrian of Ajaccio. Sight on the sea. It is entirely equipped, kitchenette (refrigerator-freezer, micro waves).
Shopping: closed of all the stores and market (daily)
Transport: 200 m from the bus towards all the beaches , maritime shuttle towards southern beach.
Sea: 150 meters of the port (harbour station) and 200 meters of the first beaches, ballades at sea, hiring of boats. Activities: nautical excursions, activities, tennis, horsemanship, thalassotherapy, discotheques, casino, bowling.
Culture: You will be able to visit the Napoleonean Museum, the House Bonaparte, the Imperial Chapelle, and the Library.

Hotel Kallisté: Ajaccio center hotel

by coccinella169

This hotel has only 2 stars, but would deserve 3 in my opinion. It is centrally located in Corsica`s capital Ajaccio. Ask for a quiet room, the hotel is facing a busy street. My room was very quiet though, facing the side street. I think the windows are double glazed anyway, but at least I do not like to sleep with windows closed in summer. The room was rather pleasant, of a good size, with terracotta tiles and nice exposed brick work arches. It was very clean. Staff was friendly.

Les voyageurs: Bastia center hotel

by coccinella169

Les voyageurs is located in central Bastia. I stayed one night there before taking the ferry back to Livorno. They have 24 rooms. There is a really pleasant, airy (apart from the cigarette smoke coming from the receptionist) lobby, furnished in a classic style and painted - like all the rooms there - in a pale yellow. There is also something like a library, which could be also used as a small conference room. The room, well, it looked ok at first sight, had also a plasma TV and a fridge. It had a carpeted floor, what I do not like that much though. The bathroom had nice floor tiles and a bathtub, but after I had discovered some black hairs on the bathroom floor which weren`t my own, I abstained from taking a bath there - it was just superficially clean. The good thing is, that you just walk 5 minutes to the train station and to the harbour. Parking costs 6 EUR per day.

U sirenu: Feel at one with nature :)

by coccinella169

So, this was my favourite accomodation in Corsica! U sirenu is a restaurant, serving solid, good farmers cuisine, and in their garden they have 2 cabins for rent. Those cabins seem to be very new, have 3 double rooms (they shut the rooms you don`t need) and a living-kitchen area. The bathroom was great, with one of those hydromassage showers. Outside of your cabin you`ll have a terrace of your own and a barbecue grill. U sirenu is in the countryside, circa 13 km from Sartène and about 40 km from Bonifacio. It is well situated to enjoy both - beaches and countryside. The closest beaches are Roccapina, about 7 km and Tizzano, about 25 km The owners are nice. Their garden is lovely adapted, with a lot of fruit trees, for example I had a lemon tree in front of the cabin. Beneath the property is a meadow with grassing sheep. There are many lizards and in the evening you can observe the bats flying around. I wasn`t that delighted about walking around in the garden any more after i had seen a long snake meandering there :). There is also a swimming pool. On September 1st hunting season starts in Corsica, and you have the possibility to go hunting or fishing with your hosts. Actually I didn`t go shooting myself :) - but I could watch the guys preparing the just shot wild pigs in the morning before having my breakfast :). They also offer excursion with 4wd cars.

Hotel de la Roya: Outstanding location

by Andy_M

Lovely small hotel with outstanding location on the beach. 5 minute drive / 15 minute walk into town. Hotel has free bicycles which are ideal for nipping into town.

Hotel prides itself on expertise of the chef who prepares beautiful meals- at a price! Fortunately we did not opt for half board. There is no choice on the Table d'hote menu and there is a strong bias towards fish. Table d'hote price 30 euros a head. Lunch is similarly lavish and expensive. No light meals here!

The staff were all very friendly and the rooms (Mediterannee) were quite small. Goodness knows what the standard (Agriates) rooms were like.

Would not recommend for families but for couples it's ideal.

The view from our room was beautiful - through the trees towards St Florent.
There was no stampede for sun loungers - in fact we were often the only people at the pool.
There are loungers on the beach and in the garden too.

Corsica ferries Sardinia ferries: Sleeping on board

by satara

If you take a ferry from Livorno to Bastia you can spend your night on board because the ferry remains at port during the night and they offer this 'hotel' service.

It's convenient because you don't have to worry in the morning when to wake up to be ready before the departure.
N.B. This service is available only from Livorno. On the way back we wanted to do the same thing in Bastia but the ferry isn't there during the night.
And it doesn't cost much.

Les Voyageurs ***: Staying in Bastia

by satara

Before taking our ferry we spent a night in Bastia without any reservation but were lucky to found a place in this hotel situated near the port. Seems we were not the only travellers who slept there before taking their ferry. Price for double room in June - 70 EUR + 6EUR for parking (as there's no hope to find parking on the street).

The room was quite big but the bathroom was almost bigger, really :) So much space - haven't seen it before in any other hotel (well, only in Lithuania we have spacious hotels).
Room was air-conditioned, with additional (normal) pillows to change the French ones.

Hotel du Golfe: Staying near Bonifacio

by satara

This hotel-restaurant (*** if I understood well) is located in Santa Manza, some kilometers in north east of Bonifacio (about 30 min) in a very calm place on the bay (and beaches) of Santa Manza.
Hotel recommended by Routard.

The room was little but very bright and welcoming with a little bathroom with all essential things.
We had 'half-board' (because that's the only option in this hotel) therefore the dinner and breakfast we had in the restaurant there. The food was delicious, service - intelligent and all was OK.
The price for room and half-board was 112 EUR (or something similar, don't remember now) at the end of june but if you try to calculate you will see that it's worth it because if you think to have a dinner outside it will cost you as minimum 50 EUR for 2 persons.
The owner is very friendly and helpful, likes to talk with guests while they have the dinner and creates the atmosphere of family (he speaks well Italian as well as French and English).

Hotel de Porticcio **: Staying in Porticcio

by satara

After visiting the zone of Porto we moved south and stayed for one day in Porticcio trying to evade the crowd in Ajaccio but at the same time staying near the capital because we wanted to visit The Sanguinaires Isles.

Pros:
It doesn't cost much, 46 Eur for a room (breakfast not included) in medium season.
Cons:
The room is very small and absolutely not welcoming with a little and very compact bathroom; no air conditioning, so it's too hot at night and when you open the window you hear the traffic as the hotel is on the busy street. The guy at the reception was always absent and the lady which served us breakfast seemed angry or tired of tourists.

Les Flots Bleus ***: Staying in Porto

by satara

After visiting north of Corsica we moved to the western coast and stayed in this lovely hotel in Porto. We stayed there for 2 days (friday and saturday) and were very satisfied with the stay.

Pros:
First of all, it's in a good place, near the sea and outside your windows you see the Tour Genoise on splendid rocks which become red at the sunset, spectacular view.
The room (for 68 eur in medium season) is large, have a bathroom with bathtub and a room for WC separately, also air conditioning which is really essential in hot summer.
The breakfast is served in the terrace and is really delicious, not only milk and coffee, French bread and three kinds of croissants but also jams and juice of orange.
Cons:
Strange smell in the corridors and in the bathroom, didn't figure out what was it. No elevator and difficult to find parking outside hotel.
