Travel from Rouen to Brussels

by sybhudson

Does anyone know how to get from Rouen to Brussels? Can I take a train directly or do I need to go through Paris?

See www.sncf.com for all French rail travel.

Another rail schedule site, somewhat easier in my view, is:

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/e

(All european trains are included.)

I only found one non-Paris route,
weekday only:

Depart Rouen
6:54 AM
arrive Lille-Flandres 9:46 AM

Depart Lille-Europe, a short walk
11:39 AM
arrive Bruxelles-Midi (south station)
12:17 PM

There were other trains from Lille-Brussels, with one stop

Offhand, I would guess that going non-stop from Rouen to Paris, changing from Gare St. Lazare to Gare du Nord, and taking the fast Thalys train to Brussels will be faster.

Travel Tips for Rouen

Église Saint Maclou, the north portal

by JLBG

The North portal of the Église Saint Maclou is not in a very good condition and needs some refurbishing. At mid height are represented eight musician angels, each playing of a different instruments : harp, psalterion, rebec-viol, portable organ, lute, string tambourine and two unidentified instruments.

From all the reports made by the most serious historians, Jeanne d'Arc was burned alive on a stake that used firewood. However, I discovered by pure chance that in the close vicinity of the stake was a cast iron cover revealing the presence of gas ("gaz"). This had never been reported. However, I will not allow myself any comment on that rough fact.

Aître Saint-Maclou, a charnel !

by JLBG

That means that Aîtres, such as Aître Saint Maclou were the kingdom of gravediggers. Gravediggers, as any other professionals love what they are doing and as any other professional, they carve it everywhere so that everybody knows what it is all about !

Tourist info in former financial institute

by Pavlik_NL

Rouen tourist information office is not only a very hospitable place where all questions are answered to the many visitors that come to town, but is also a monument on the list of "tourist attractions". The tourist iformation office is situated in one of the oldest renaissance buildings of Rouen. It dates back to the 16th century and used to be a civil house of a rich trader and later became the city institute of finances (a kind of bank). It is immediately across the square in front of cathedrale Notre-Dame de Rouen.

Musée des Beaux-Arts

by dimilag

Numerous works of art are displayed at Musée des Beaux-Arts. Pieces from Rubens, Caravaggio, Poussin, Corot and others are housed here. There is an entire area devoted to the works of Géricault, and included amongst them is a portrait of Delacroix. There are several Impressionist works here as well, including several versions of the Rouen Cathedral by Monet.
