Hallo. I am a member of NCCS. Norfolk Contemporary Craft Society, and I am based in Norwich. I was wondwering if there was a similar organisation in our twin town of Rouen?
It's much wider than what you want, but try the Chambre de Métiers et de l'Artisanat Seine-Maritime: http://www.cm-76.fr/ or else one of these: http://www.rouen.fr/association/annuaire/economie/artisanat. There's nothing that corresponds exactly to what you want but you could also ask the tourism office about "marchés artisanaux" where you could meet individual artisans. I was pleased yet amazed to see these brilliant flowers available in the middle of winter!!! Their bright colors were in happy contrast to most other trees and plants...and the bonus of course, was that Rouen is also home to many, many doggies!! HA!!!! ;-))
At the corner of Église Saint Maclou, between the front and the north side, the figure of a poor decayed young boy is watering permanently as the Bruxelle's famous Mankenpiss. It is not in very good condition and has even lost the most important part of his anatomy, which had to be replaced by stainless iron prosthesis.
The roof of the “Salle des Procureurs” had been treated in a modern style that fits perfectly with the old buildings : from outside, it is covered with slates, from inside, it seems to be a boat upside down.
It is no more used as the Prosecutors Hall but host a show (center of the picture) on the destructions and on the rebuilding.
Amazingly, after you have toured the Aître Saint Maclou, when you go out, through a little, half covered passage, you find again a beam, of sun, your leader ! Would it be possible hat this the very shop where were carved all these figures ? It is impossible to say but this joiners workshop is in perfect condition, till working (and I suppose, fulfilling the laws about security at work !)
I liked this place for two reasons.
1 - There was a lot of vegetarian opions so I didn't have to eat just chips
2 - I love pizza and thats what they had!!
We ordered a set menu for each person, which was a starter salad, an individual pizza (which was big!) and either a dessert or a salad, there were many other meal deals too, which I thought was good.
The ambience was quite loud as it was a fast food place, located in the centre of town. They were always busy, but not too busy that you would have to book in advance!! I loved the vegetarian pizza, as well as the dessert. All my friends loved their meat pizzas too, especially the pizza that had 'merguez' on it. So i would recommend them both
