 | France Reviews | Tips 91 - 100 of 440 | | Before starting my trip, I knew that I would have huge luggage, so I wanted to stay somewhere very close to Gare du Nord where you can reach both Orly and Charles de Gaulle Airport by railway. This hotel is perfect for a person someone like me! Gare du Nord itself is a huge station but once you get out of the station building, the hotel is right there. Even with my short legs and heavy luggage, I managed to reach the hotel in a couple of minutes. The staff is all fluent in English and friendly. The interior furnishings of all the entrance, lobby, corridor, and room are simple but bright with soft light. I stayed in a room with a double bed by myself. The room should have been roomy enough even for two persons. The bathroom was also very well-equipped (a magnifying mirror was installed there! I think that girls would appreciate it!). The hotel is in a busy district (no wonder! It?s near the big railway station!), and I was a little afraid that the area might be pretty dangerous. But I didn?t feel any danger while walking to the hotel from the station around 23:30. Also, I hardly heard any noise from the streets in the middle of the night. Compared to other hotels in Paris, the price of this hotel is rather reasonable, and it has a great value!
Its location is perfect! The hotel is a couple of minutes away from Gare du Nord of both the Railway (RER lines) and Metro system (four lines are available at the station). You can reach both the Orly Airport and Charles de Gaulle Airport by RER lines. Needless to say, this allows you to access lots of places in the city using the public transportations. There are various restaurants and take-away food shops around the hotel. My recommendation is one of the Chinese take-away (). Very very reasonable and delicious! I felt that the breakfast offered at the hotel was quite big compared to that offered at the hotels in Europe I have stayed. It offers variety of cornflakes, cheese, eggs, hams, bread, yoghurt and jam. What impressed me was a baguette they gave me. If you are in France, it should be very normal to have that for each meal and shouldn?t surprise you at all. But for me, the baguette was very good and stuffed my stomach along with lots of hams and cheese. Good enough to start a day! In France there is a huge variety of places to stay in all categories. There is a wide range of prices especially in Paris. In the rural destinations and near the sea there are lot of camping sites. But some of them are overpriced. If you are lucky you can rent an appartment for a cheap price. If you want a budget option I can recommend Hotel Formule 1 Etap is a little bit more comfortable it has own toilet and shower. # http://www.etaphotel.com/etaphotel/gb/cartographie/france.shtml # Ibis is also cheap and has more comfort: # http://www.ibishotel.com/ibis/reservez/fr_top.jsp?ecran=rech_par_carte #
Formula one hotels have the same standard everywhere in the world. You know what you get a bed to sleep in a clean room for low price. They have a bed for two persons down and one person can sleep up. There is a small TV in each room with a few programms. The toilet and bath is public. After using it is cleaned with much chemistry. The breakfast is served in the morning for an additional payment. It is good if you have not much time. But don't expect to much. Tip: You can use the rooms with three persons. There is not much staff around. They don't registrate which person sleep in which room. If one person waits outside while the others check in it is absolutely no problem to stay with three persons.

Hans and I, along with Hans' sister Nel and husband Jean, rented this cute little house in Bretagne. We rented it for a week. It was a short drive to Brest where we had Jean's family reunion and celebration of his mother's 90th birthday.
The little cottage consisted of two spacious bedrooms, a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and dining and sitting area with a fireplace. It had a great view of the sea and you could go on many walks through the area. And all for 300Euros per week which we shared. Nel made the arrangements so I don't know who to contact to rent it. Located in Honfleur HOTEL 1 is an economical place to spend the night. Our room was small, just enough room for the bed and had a cubicle style bathroom, but everything was fresh and clean. Leave a Comment

This was a fantastic place to stay in Chateau Thierry about 90km from Paris on the A4/E50. Our hosts Marie & Alain were wonderful, and made us feel very welcome, for 140Euros we had the "Mariage Room" this was a beautiful room very large with our own marble bathroom, a 5 course dinner including different wines with each course and topped off with Calvados (to aid with digestion) we waddled off to bed somewhere around 11pm and then woke the next morning to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and an assortment of cold meats, french bread, jams and coffee.
Chambres d'Hotes is part of the original Chateau owned by the Due de la Fontein (1716). We wanted to experience something very french and this certainly fit the bill. Our hosts were very welcoming, and even though they couldn't speak much English and we only knew a few words of French they ate with us and we both used translation books so we could understand each other. Marie did all the cooking whilst Alain kept us entertained, everything we ate and drank was from France. We would definately recommend this venue for a special night, and if you want to contact them Marie's email address is Mariechambres@aol.com. This is definately 5 stars in our estimation. I found Hotel Bellevue in La Ciotat by driving around in this village. I tried to get accommodation in Cassis, a real tourist town on the coast, close to Marseille. But either everything was fully booked or terribly expensive, so I decided to give it a try in La Ciotat. This village is only a few kilometres down the road from Cassis and the prices for accommodations here are totally different. Hotel Bellevue is not a luxury place, it is very very basic. But the location is great, right at the harbour of this little village, and the price was great as well! Only 35 euro for a double room per night instead of 100 euro in Cassis! Like I said, the rooms are very basic and small, so maybe not the best option for a long stay. But I only was here to sleep, so I didn't see much of the room anyway, lol. I was very happy to have found this place! Breakfast is not included in the price. If I remember well that was 5 euro per person. I took breakfast here as it was convenient. The breakfast wasn't that much though, tea or coffee, orange juice and a croissant. B&B at Caumont Sur Durance, close to Avignon. Price for a double room was 53 euro a night, breakfast included. On the outside it might not seem much, but on the inside it was quite nice. The room was clean and nicely decorated with a private bathroom. But the best thing about this B&B were its owners. They were so very friendly and helpfull! Although they didn't speak much English, hahaha, and we didn't speak a lot of French, communicating didn't go that smooth, but somehow we did manage. We were looking for a nice restaurant that evening and with the help of their daughter (who visited that afternoon and spoke good English) they reccommended a great little place. They even made the reservations for us and gave us directions to go there. It made our evening, we had a great dinner in this cosy restaurant. In the morning we had a good breakfast outside on the terrace, with tea, french bread, croissants and jam. Mmmm, a good start the day! Don't expect much luxery here, but do prepare for a warm welcome! I thought to be a 'real' VT-er for once and try to give some accommodation tips. Hahaha, of course I forgot again to take pictures of all the places I stayed, so I only will describe the three that I have pictures of. The first one is a Bed and Breakfast in a farmhouse at Petit Ségriès, just outside the village of Moustiers-Sainte-Maire.It is ideally located when you are visiting the Gorges du Verdon. It is a farmhouse, but the rooms are totally re-decorated to make it suitable for a bed and breakfast. We had a room on the second floor, which seemed totally new on the inside. It has a separate entrance, Good beds, very nice and clean modern bathroom. The room was furnished a lot though. The room had no TV or radio, but I didn't see that as a problem. The B&B is a farmhouse, so ideal if you are looking for a very quiet place to stay. If you want, you can have dinner with the owners and the other guests of the B&B. The costs are 14 euros per person; I didn't choose for this though and had dinner elsewhere. The price for a double room was € 55, which included breakfast. Breakfast isn't that huge though, you can have some french bread, croissants, and all sorts of jam that are made with own produces of the farm. The owners are very friendly and I think this place is well worth the stay. This was a delightful place to spend the night. After visiting Omaha Beach we drove to The Omaha Beach Golf Club. It was in a rural area, with small roads leading to farms and pasture areas. We saw some of the Brittany speckled cows coming out of the barn, just after they were milked. They look like they have bangs at the top of their head, between their horns. We had a corner room that overlooked the golf course. We had windows on two walls which was very nice. The room was a good size and had a double bed plus two singles. The bathroom was fine.
I thought the swimming pool and the gardens behind the Mercure were delightful. I have included a picture of the lavendar growing by the building. The restaurant was in another building and we had to walk past the pool and garden area for dinner and breakfast. The evening meal was served in a beautiful room for dining and the food was excellent with perfect presentation. The location was excellent for visiting the Beaches of Normandy and the American Cemetery. Also, the Bayeux tapestry is only a couple of miles away. I would most defnitely stay here again.
