We always stay here while in Paris. We like the hotel, the price, and we love the neighborhood. The hotel rooms are small but larger for Paris. It is quiet and safe. The staff could not be nicer even after you ask for your key a million times because you are doing your laundry down the street. This is a business hotel so it fills up quickly during the week. Oh, and the bathrooms are large! Although this nice little hotel is close to the beach, harbour and the busy restaurants and bars on the promenade, it is rather a quiet place. It is located in a quiet street, just a very short stroll - really just around the corner - from the busy tourist centre.
Six of the 21 rooms (first floor) have views over the Arcachon basin.
The rooms are rather basic but very neat and clean and have full bathrooms and TV.
The main colours are - as the name says - calming blue and warming orange. You can have a drink in the tree-shaded patio area and a meal at the hotel restaurant. They also offer room/meal packages.
Big minus: The website which does not give you neither the room rates nor the email, and although they are a member of the Federal Hotel association you cannot book this hotel online.
I cannot remember the rate but it should be about 60 EUR.

That was a very nice change to all the hotel stays in France. The RelaiSoleil (Relais Soleil) is a tourist village in the middle of a 5 hectare nature park, in the middle of a huge pine forest, on the shores of France's longest (not biggest) freshwater lake and not far away from the sea/beach. The name of the village is "Les Bruyères".
It consists of various types of rooms, apartments and motel-like chalets:
- 25 fully equipped apartments (2 rooms) with balcony, and you have to book half-board
- 100 rooms (2 beds) with balcony and refrigerator; interconnecting rooms for families; half- or full-board
- 56 rustic wooden chalets, 32 square metres each, with balcony, fully equipped kitchenette and two rooms, some with two rooms, for 4 to 6 people. This is the only option which can be booked for accommodation only.
I had one of the latter for myself - which was very nice ;-)))))
One of the big and highly promoted activities in this area is cycling. They have an incredible lot of good cycling tracks in the forests - and especially in summer it is very nice to cycle in this cooler air.
The rates for summer (30 June until 1 September/as 2007):
apartment, half-board, 276 to 353 EUR per week and per person
room, full-board, 303 to 385 EUR per week and person
chalet, accommodation only, 564 (4 beds, lowest rate) to 890 (6 beds, highest rate), per chalet

This is an absolutely lovely place, located somehow in the middle of nowhere, right on the main road and only separated from the beach by this road and the dunes named L'Amélie, close to the endless pine forests of the Atlantic coast and the vineyards of the Médoc.
If you want to get around you need a car, as this place is some kilometres from Soulac-sur-Mer.
The hotel is nicely renovated, with cosy though spacious and tastefully decorated rooms (31 in total), many with balcony. As a member of the Logis de France association a good standard is guaranteed.
I very much enjoyed dinner, the restaurant has a very good standard.
Rates for a double room (as 2007):
Shoulder season from 45 to 60 EUR.
Peak season from 60 to 95 EUR.
Especially in the shoulder season you should consider half-board as the rates are rather good. But I do not see the point why you should pay 10 EUR more for the same meal during the peak season. A lovely place with views of the Gironde estuary, or a lovely garden, depending on which side of the building you have a room. The garden rooms are more quiet, the view rooms are on the street side.
The hotel has a big conservatory/terrace along the whole length of the building, overlooking the marina. There you can sample the specialities of the region and have a glass of the wines that grow in the vineyards surrounding the hotel.
Pauillac is situated in the centre of the Médoc vineyards and a perfect base for exploring vineyards and castles of the region, it is next to the famous castles of Mouton-Rothschild and Laffite, and of course, Pauillac has its own castle, like (nearly) every place or family in the Médoc region ;-)
The hotel is closed over Christmas until the middle of January. It has 29 rooms, the rates (2007) for a double/twin room are 63 to 71 Euro.

First of all: Hotel rooms in this alpine region are a lot cheaper in summer than in winter. (Les Gets is close to Morzine in the French Alps.)
Second: If you just want to book a room in this wonderful hotel and not half- or full board you have to make a direct inquiry. On the internet they only note rates for half-board on a base of 7 days and more... So do not expect to pay less than 120 Euro for the cheapest room in summer and probably 200 in winter. For the more luxurious rooms the sky is the limit ;-) If I remember right we paid about 150 Euro for a double room with balcony during the Tour de France, and this was some years ago.
But what you pay is what you get. The hotel is a wonderful building, Swiss style, with wooden banisters, and also a lot of rustic wood in the interior. It is really the style that matches the alpine environment perfectly. The rooms are huge.
As the construction is so solid you do not hear a sound - if not the snoring of your partner ;-) But this would not be a reason to stay at the most expensive hotel in town. Many other places are as quiet and peaceful as this one.
Le Labrador has all many features you can expect of such a luxurious place: swimming pool, gym, tennis court and gourmet restaurant. Beautiful and elegant rooms, fabulous food, great views, great (and quiet) location: This hotel is a truly wonderful place to relax and enjoy the food and wine of Alsace.
In the evening you can sit on the terrace overlooking the plains and vineyards. We once sat there in the setting sun - absolutely magic :-) Hochkönigsburg castle (8km) is just around the corner, and many villages of the famous wine trail at close distance, for example Ribeauvillé 7km, and Colmar only 21km.
The hotel has 25 rooms and 6 suites, swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna, as well as a wine bar (called "Winstub" in Alsace) and a bar.
They offer 2-night packages with breakfast buffet, one four- and one five-course dinner, at 200 Euro per person during the week and 220 on a weekend.
As the button on the internet actually does not work I cannot tell you the exact rate. Some years ago it was from 60 to 120 Euro. This is clearly one of the nicer places in Lourdes, located on the hillside in a quiet street, and still just some steps away from all the restaurants, the river and the sanctuary.
The rooms were spacious and nice, with quality furniture, the service very friendly - a non-working TV was replaced quickly within minutes.
Carpark and garage, bar, TV rooms, restaurant, function rooms and shop.
The atmosphere was much more relaxed than in other big hotels (this one has 180 rooms), and you did not feel this dispair of hopeful sick people everywhere, just normal tourists and christians who were in Lourdes for prayers.
In other hotels along the Gave river you sometimes feel like in a hospital, as you do in the streets of Lourdes, with nurses pushing wheelchairs and rolling beds through the streets everywhere.
Rate for a double room (as 2007) from 58 to 67 EUR.
