I chose the Hotel Louis Blanc because it seemed to check all the boxes I needed. I was playing tour guide so I needed 2 rooms. I also needed a well located hotel that was not too expensive and was quiet. Hotel Louis Blanc met all those expectations. The only thing I was disappointed about were the beds. Not bad, but not great either. Despite being in between the massive Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est train stations, the hotel is in a very quiet residential location. At night there just are no cars around. The Metro is virtually at the front door – so getting around Paris is a breeze.

My rooms (we had 2) were, as requested, at the back of the hotel. They overlooked the nice courtyard garden. Absolutely quiet. The room was not very big, but fine. I had a large closet and a reasonable TV. The bathroom was efficient and modern, although toiletries were on the very modest side.

Breakfast (extra charge) was a reasonable enough buffet. There are a lot of small restaurants, bars and take-away places very close by.

All in all, a very good and peaceful stay in Paris.

• 91 rooms in a modern hotel near the Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est train stations
• Free WI-FI, air-conditioned, quiet
• Twin, Double and Superior rooms
• Some rooms are garden facing (recommended)
• Simple buffet breakfast (extra)
• Plenty of food and drink outlets very close by

• Air conditioned, soundproofing, TV, desk, wardrobe/closet
• Bathroom with bath-shower, hairdryer
• Tea and coffee

I chose L’Annexe in Paris because it seemed to be a reasonable walking distance from the massive Gare Du Nord Train Station, it has cheap rooms on the weekends and it received favourable reviews. For the price and location, I can’t complain. I arrived quite late, but had requested a quiet room. I was duly given the keys and directed into the adjacent building to reception. My room was facing away from the road and it was quiet. The rooms are small. I had a single bedroom and it was sufficient for 3 days with only a weekend bag. The bathroom was very small and the shower was tiny. A very large person would have probably not been able to manage a wash in a single room like mine.

The hotel is quiet. The only issue I had was 2 rooms of idiots coming back at 2am drunk. I quickly made sure they were quiet as well. They offer a basic breakfast buffet (with meats and cheeses) with the room. There are some good little restaurants nearby including several that are open 24 hours a day. The hotel is located in the garment area and workers are around 24 hours a day. You can get a kebab, a steak dinner or just a few cans of beer to take back to your room.

During the day the local area has everything you need in terms of shopping and dining. It is 5 minutes walk to the nearest metro station and a nice stroll all the way to Notre Dame Cathedral (about 30 mins) if you wish.

A good budget choice in Paris. Easy to get to, plenty of things nearby, safe area and well connected.

• 30 Rooms, 2 Stars, quiet, plenty of food and drink options on your doorstep
• Rooms are soundproofed with double glazed windows
• The hotel is located at on a dead-end road with no traffic on it at night
• Non-smoking throughout
• Shuttle service (surcharge), Tour desk, Ticket service, Luggage storage
• Express check-in/check-out, Fax/photocopying
• Wi-Fi (lobby only)

• Non-smoking rooms (singles, twin and doubles)
• En-suite (shower only), hair dryer
• Television, tea and coffee making facilities, phone, safe available
• Dogs welcome by arrangement
• 24 hour room service
• Iron and Ironing board are available on request

Appart-City St Cyr l'école: appart hotel chain City

This a chain we have been using lately, the one in La Rochelle was great this one so so. The location if without a car is not easy, and the sofa bed was dirty, weird system of key to open the apartment, and lack personnel. Otherwise good.

Nice spaces, great view of the city and the A12 from the balcony we had, and parking available even if payable 8,50€ per day. Breakfast available but we ate out. Elevators take you from room to basement garage. The apartment is close to Versailles on the road D10 so it is an area we know well but if visiting like I said moving about could be a hindrance

they id the property as Versailles but not near just for selling point....but with a car was our base to Paris, Versailles and Fontainebleau.!!!

spacious rooms, and parking underground. weird system of key entry and all extras with charge even the linen; so bring your own. Best is the price for a large family all together for 93€ per night.

Les Etangs de Corot: hotel amongst impressionists,Avray

This is a magnificent hotel, near where I used to lived in Versailles. I put it here because I have been Inside as friends stayed there couple of times, and I was taken them out each time.
Etangs means water basins or lakes, and it is beautifully a painters heaven that is why Corot was here.
Most will come from Paris and a car is a must.
by the Porte Maillot / Pont de Suresnes, go on boulevard Henri Sellier towards St Cloud and continue to town and hotel is on the left hand side. by the Porte d’Auteuil / Pont de St Cloud, take direction St Cloud centre ville, go into the city of St Cloud (direction Garches). by the Porte de St Cloud / Pont de Sèvres, take the road D910 to the right Chaville. At about 800 meters take a right in direction Ville-d’Avray. by the autoroute A13, Paris/Normandie get off at exit/ sortie 5 (Versailles Centre ville/Chateau). Go underneath the A13, direction Versailles.

and if you at Versailles like I was you take the avenue de St Cloud, continue same road call avenue des Etats-Unis.Take right at the curvy road in direction Ville d’Avray and continue straight the hotel will be on your right hand side

by public transport, you can do it
take train from Gare St Lazare direction Versailles Rive Droite, stop at Gare Sèvres Ville d’Avray then take bus 469 direction Porte des Hauts-de-Seine, stop/arrêt Les Etangs or walk for about 20 minutes
also at same station in VErsailles you can take bus 471 direction Saint-Cloud,stop/ arrêt Les Etangs or take taxi for about 10 minutes/
From the Gare Montparnasse : take the train direction Rembouillet/Dreux or Mantes La Jolie, stop/ Arrêt Gare Sèvres Rive Gauche ,then bus 469 direction Porte des Hauts-de-Seine,stop/ arrêt Les
Etangs or stop/Arrêt gare Versailles Chantier then taxi as above

Beautiful rooms and restaurant decorated with paintings by Corot, and les caves des artistes, in the basement , where I like the most , just perfect. Also, a wonderful Spa Caudelie in house.

Camille Corot, painter forerunner of the Impressionists at age 21 when his parents buy 15 km from Paris a mansion where they have pleasure to come relax on weekend. Throughout his life, the painter will remain faithful to this small town of Ville-d'Avray, dedicating more than 250 paintings. Green water ponds, water lilies bordering a large place and the juxtaposition of a painting of the first half of the nineteenth century with a contemporary photo is amazingly confusing similarity.

It is without doubt one of the reasons for the immediate of the Etangs de Corot charm, complex hotelier of 42 rooms, sumptuous spa and gourmet restaurants, which hides well his game behind ancient facade, crunching the gravel of his whereabouts and its wrought-iron chairs, rusty just what he needed. The painter and his time sowed a few pebbles of a century gone without that nostalgia submerge you, a challenge.

Rooms play the card of decoration of charm where the chairs canework dialogue with the chintz of the flowered curtains. A trunk in wood, a top of bed in white damask, bathroom fitting vintage, not question hitting the eye. So far, instead is obsolete and it is there that the spa dedicated to the wine comes into play. Men will be happy to learn that a «ritual of the sommelier» is dedicated to them, is a half-day beauty that opens with a "barrel bath" and continues on a massage with the 'winemaker stick', where the technical tools how interfere in the world of luxury.

Magical indeed.

the Caves des Artistes is a great place for a nice meal or a glass of wine with someone you love. The closeness to Paris is an add on as well as to Versailles.

Franklin D. Roosevelt Hotel: A small but clean and well maintained hotel

This hotel is a small hotel, there's really nothing fancy about it. It was relatively well maintained and housekeeping was quite good and prompt. The breakfast was included in our package and it was a basic buffet breakfast with cold cut meats, hot items such as scrambled eggs and potato with sauted tomato sauce and sausage. It also has cereals and fruits. The price was Euro 23, which is really overpriced, if I didn't have this included in our package, even if you pay me Euro 23, I would not have breakfast at this hotel because it was not worth the price for this meal. The airconditioning unit was never on the week we were there from 25 April to 2 May 2008. Thank goodness the weather was cool enough during that time in Paris not to have the airconditioning on. I suppose they are saving energy at the expense of the patrons. Also be very wary and extra cautious to leaving your money in their safe. We make it a point to lock the combination safe everyday but when we checked our cash supply the following morning, we were missing 5 US$100 bills. This is despite the fact that we were 100% sure the safe was locked when we left in the morning for our sight seeing around Paris. However, the smaller US$ denominations of a couple of 20s, 10s, 5s and a few 1 dollar bills though were surprisingly not taken. The only explanation is the hotel has the capability of bypassing our combination lock and opening the safe, which we think is what happened. The lesson here is check your money in the safe in the morning before you go out to do your touristy things and check it again when you return at the end of the day. Despite this, we tried not to get too upset about it and enjoyed our visit to Paris. If asked if I would stay in this hotel again? I would respond by saying I probably would but if its the summer, I'll ask them if the airconditioning is working, otherwise, if its the colder months, then it's not a big deal if the unit is off.

The convenience and proximity to the grandest avenue in Paris the Champs Elysees and the public transportation is a definite advantage. We also felt safe in the immediate neighborhood of this hotel, even during our midnight and 1:00AM walks.

Hotel: Hotel Richelieu

For those Budget minded, it is a good option. Check-in Lobby is on the 1st floor ( our 2nd floor) & the elevator is very small only large enough for 1 and bags. So its easier to take the stairs and send the bags up the elevator. We did not use the Breakfast area so can not input anything in that area. Hotel was okay except it the rooms faces the street so was very noisy at night with the cars & scooters
