l'Hospitel: In the medieval sense of hospital

I never stayed in the hotel part, but have been in the building several times (professional visits when working for the APHP (operating the parisian hospitals) and visiting an hospitalized neigbour).

The hospitel is situated in an fantastic location, on the ile de la Cite and ovelooks the hospital's gardens and Notre Dame.

The small hotel (14 rooms) was initially intended to host the patients' relatives, but when they have room, those are available for tourists.

No need to worry about gorey sights, this part of the hospital is above the ophtalmology service and at the 6th floor (you don't hear the ambulances, they don't come this way) and the place has been nicely renovated.

Certainly not the best place for the nightlife lovers but for those looking for a very original experience in a quiet place, this is a good bet.

Certainly one of the most unexpected locations for an hotel, but a direct descendant of the medieval hospitals whose role was - among others - to offer hospitality to travellers.

The price is very reasonable for the location (around 100 €), the hotel offers A/C and can accomodate disabled people.
