Fun for Kids Relaxation for Adults

We booked our holiday through Dial a Flight so didn't exactly choose this hotel. I did check their web site carefully before departure. Quite frankly I was dreading staying here with what seemed like wall to wall kids!! As it turned out - this hotel was perfect for both adults and kids alike, the kids scored highly with the indoor swimming pool and the Scally Wagg's Jungle Adventure play area. We adults could enjoy a drink in the adjacent Trader's Cafe Bar, or if the kids had finished playing around, we could all sit together in the comfort of the Smuggler's Tavern. Rooms were themed in a ship style our room had one double bed and two singles again family orientated but no extra charges for just two sharing. Grant and company had a family suite - separate bedroom with bunk beds for the kids and their own en-suit, living room and double bedroom with en-suit.

Unique Quality: The hotel has many bedrooms and suites but the public areas are huge so it never seemed crowded or noisy. Rooms have a safe and the usual facitities of a three star hotel. Meals and snacks are available in six locations within the hotel but I would only recommend one - Brioche Doree - a buffet breakfast is included in your room rate - the food is good but the restaraunt chaotic, we preferred a more relaxed breakfast in the airy atrium but here you have to pay. All in all a good base for adults and kids alike.

A BRIEF STAY

We hadnt intended to stay here, but having missed the last train we needed somewhere to sleep so our weary little group hopped on the shuttle bus and this was the first hotel we arrived at

the lovely man on the check in desk couldnt have been more helpful, yes there were rooms for us, at a price including breakfast that didnt make us gasp with shock........ our rooms here were half the price we had paid at Disney`s Newport Bay Club, the rooms were small but clean and comfortable and there were tea and coffee making facilities

the hotel has a 3* rating, the same as the Disney hotel we stayed at but definately less luxurious, though a great deal more friendly

I imagine at busy times noise will be a problem here for light sleepers, the walls seemed very thin, but we got a good nights sleep before catching the shuttle but which runs every 20 minutes from 6am - 11pm to the train station, a word of warning, if you catch the early train as we did you may not have time for breakfast as it doesnt start untill 7am

Unique Quality: there is a great swimming pool with slide for children, our grandchildren were most upset that the pool was closing as we arrived at 9pm, but cheered up as they explored the play area while we found the bar for a much needed drink
we found this to be a very friendly hotel and would probably stay here again if we return to Disneyland Paris

Lovely

Great Hotel, Great Value!!!!
Very clean and great for families.
The rooms were lovely and big with one double bed and 2 singles.
Good location, had to grab a free shuttle bus to and from the park but this hotel was first pick up and first drop off.
The shuttle buses can get quite crowded.
Free continential breakfast in the morning which is very nice.
Great pool for children.
The park is more suited for young children but Disney Village is good fun with restaurants such as Planet Hollywood.
Very good weekend.
We jumped on a train to Paris took about 45 mins/1 hour that is a must do for anyone- went to Notre Dame and went to the top of the Eiffel Tower.

Fantastic Hotel!

Great hotel! i cant fault it!
We have just returned after visiting for our daughters 6th birthday.
The rooms were large and very clean, the facilities excellent, especially for kids(great indoor pool with 1 flume and 1 slide, indoor adventure playground), Great fun atmosphere nice food.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Excellent hotel for price

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in August. Our party consisted of 2 adults and 3 children so we booked the standard room plus bunk room. The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. Kettle in room, tea/coffee is complimentary for first night, advise you bring tea bags from home as I did, it is much cheaper than buying replenishments from hotel!
Only ate breakfast at hotel, this was plentiful and very pleasant. Did not eat lunch or dinner here, why eat here when there are so many themed restaurants in the parks/Disney village!
Did not use pool but it seemed quite adequate with nice theming. It was very busy late afternoon/early evening!
Very handy Disney shop for last minute shopping!
The shuttle buses are fine during the day but manic last thing at night when park closes. We walked back once, a very pleasant walk, takes about 25 minutes.
Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Have already booked to stay here again!

Excellent holiday but major problem with shuttle bus on Bastille night!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

My family (consisting of two adults and four children) and another young family (consisting of two daults & three children) stayed at Exploris Hotel during second week of July. We had an absolutely brilliant time and both the hotel and parks were excellent.
However we did have a very frightening experience with regard to the shuttle bus following the fireworks display on Bastille Day (13th July).

The first problem that we encountered was the very long bus queue which gradually developed as people came out from the fireworks display and which we duly joined. By this stage, it was between 11:30 pm and 12 pm and all of the children in our company but especially the 5, 4 and 2 yr old children, were extremely tired. We joined the end of the queue, like most other people but unfortunately each time a bus did arrive |(which varied between every 20 & 30 mins), people at the back of the queue, walked up the inside of the railings and boarded the bus in front of us and all other mannerly people, patiently, waiting their turn. Each time a bus did arrive there was a huge push forward and this proved both a very dangerous and frightening experience for myself (who was trying to keep my feet on the ground and get a pram onto the bus also), never mind the young children with us. The other three adults in our company were able to lift the smallest of our children but the older boys (aged 12, 10, 8 & 6 yrs) had to try and get onto that bus by themselves.

When we eventually did get on the board, the agony still did not stop because there were so many people on the bus, we were squashed in like sardines. None of the people in our party of eleven, managed to get a seat and so we all had to stand and hold small children, without literally room to turn. My friend spent the journey standing on top of someone else’s feet as there was not enough standing room and my son (aged 10 yrs) and his friend (aged 6 yrs) had to stand with their faces squashed against a window, for the entire 30 minute journey.

If you recall the weather at that time was very hot, yet all the windows on that bus were locked and everyone was gasping for fresh air.

I have to say that there were huge questions, with regard to basic health and safety on shuttle bus that night. I was extremely frightened and annoyed, so I can only imagine how a young child must have felt, surrounded by adults and being carried along by the crowd. There were too many people waiting for the buses and the buses were taking too long to make the round trip.

I would like to know why more buses were not made available that night? I’m sure that those fireworks are an annual event and surely the bus service know that huge crowds are expected to attend, all leaving the park at the same time! Secondly, if queuing was the only option, why were there not staff at the bus stop to stop people from jumping the queue and to prevent the pushing, which took place every time a bus did arrive. Staff would also have been needed to limit the number of people boarding the bus because I'm quite sure there is a maximum number which a bus can hold.

Thankfully, there was no one seriously hurt that night but I can assure you that it was more to do with good luck than good guidance.

I sent an e-mail to the shuttle bus company concerned and they have assured me that changes have since been made to make sure that this does not happen again.
I just hope that this is true and so prevents other people from enduring the same inconvenience

Served its Purpose!

Managed to get this hotel from the Eurostar website along with the Train Journey for a very reasonable price.
Got to the hotel with no fuss and the trains are absolutely brilliant in France.
The hotel is quite modern, spacious and clean. It only become clear when we arrived how we got it so cheap. Absolutely everything is expensive here. The breakfast really isn't much to write home about, pretty basic stuff. Should you want something extra IE. Cold meats and better quality rolls you have to pay them 10 Euros per person where you are shown into another room with disney character walking around. All in all a bit of a con, but could probably see the attraction if you had kids with you (which we didnt).
Nice rooms, Nice clean hotel and served our purposes, so can't really conplain, just wished the staff would smile a little more.... After all, its supposed to be Disneyland! - Why oh why didn't they build the thing in England!!!

Enjoyable holiday

by TripAdvisor Member TrafficCone92

Had a very enjoyable 5 night stay at the Explorer. Hotel clean and comfortable. The staff were always helpful and polite. We ate at the Plantation Restaurant in the hotel every evening and the food was great. The only negative aspect of the holiday was the suttle bus service. Too many people are being crammed onto one bus and the service is far too infrequent. We found it better to walk to the park. Took about 30 mins and is mainly on the flat.

factory hotel but good for kids

by TripAdvisor Member andy_scot_uk

swimming pool, soft play , 3 bars, great for families. This is a hotel that deals with 1000 people a day so you have to be prepared for staggered breakfast and buffet (expensive) teas. However all the hotels at Disney are like this and I preferred this hotel to the others. There is a good swimming pool with flume and slide. The staff were helpful. The softplay area was good and one of the 3 bars had a happy hour with half price drinks. We ate at the Disney village each night rather than the hotel. Val d'europe shopping centre with many eating places is one stop away on train.

great value for larger families

by A TripAdvisor Member

this hotel was great for us as we are a family of five, the room was very clean and the reception staff very helpfull, our kids loved the pool and ballpit, breakfast was very busy but if you left it a little later not so mad! The only downside was getting my purse stolen the first day in the Disney park I was stupidly wearing a backpack style bag so ladies beware I didnt feel anything, adventure island has many little dark places so be carefull, the disney staff were very helpfull and gave us some new tickets as mine were in my purse its a good idea to make use of the safe in the room. We would definatley use this hotel again.
