Hi. We want to drive to France from Stuttgart, Germany this weekend. Just want to drive around 200 kilometers or so. We want to stay in a gite or pension that is 40 euro and under within walking distance to a restaurant and sites. Not too interested in big cities. A specific name of a place to stay would be excellent. Or...we could get something when we get there too? So, where should we go?
Colmar is a small city about 200km from Stuttgart, but I can't remember where we stayed there

Barr is a small friendly wine village and the countryside around it is gorgeous. The hotel is not a chateau; it's more like a large chalet. They have an excellent restaurant and it is located on a hill above the village of Barr. A little stream runs through the grounds. It's lovely.

This is the centre ville. In summer, it is a wonderful place to be , just like most areas in Paris. There are some beautiful shops and lots of activities here. The popular American Hospital of Paris is located very close to this place. The beautiful flowers, especially in summer.
This is perhaps the symbol of Neuilly. It is very conspicous as you approach from port de la Muette. You can observe La Defence at the background of the picture. The flowers and the Gardens for relaxation that litters every where in this location. It can be said to be lovers paradise.
Neuilly-sur-Seine (do not make any confusion, there are a lot of Neuilly in France) is a town, just beside Paris, between the Porte Maillot and la Defense.
Neuilly is known as one of the most wealthy suburbs of Paris.
One of my boss (Mr de ....) told me : "When I was young, just after our wedding, we lived in a HLM (social building) in Neuilly ... rue du Chateau". This day, I discovered my boss did not know what is a HLM.
Often, the tourists know only the avenue Charles de Gaulle which links Porte Maillot to La Defense. The town is not touristic but it has some luxurious shops (food especially) which fit with the type of inhabitants.
Going to the West, there is La Defense : the business area of Paris.
Following this avenue, you must cross the Pont de Neuilly on the River Seine.
In the far you can see the Grande Arche.
The avenue goes to Paris in the East. You enter Paris by the Porte Maillot.
In the far you can see the Arc de Triomphe of which shape answers to the Grande Arche in La Defense.
