Paris Bus Tours

by zitaf

Is there one that has the BEST English speaking tour guide.
I know some have recorded tours, not interested in that.
thank you for any help you can give us.

Re: Paris Bus Tours

Most of the buses seem to have tapes, not live persons. Maybe there are exceptions. Ten years ago my family wanted to do the bus tour, got the headsets, and were asleep in 10 minutes. Three years ago my parents loved it.

thanks I hope we can do this and really be happy.

The BEST English speaking tour guides in Paris are not on a bus tour (I too think the buses are all recorded to appeal to the masses) but rather on a walking tour. If you really want a good tour for a Paris neighbourhood check out Paris Walks - http://www.paris-walks.com

Travel Tips for Paris

Beautiful City

by lesley1160

Paris is very pleasant for walking around and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. We had been warned that Parisians are supposed to be unfriendly and uncommunicative but we found them to be the opposite.

see the Triumph Arc !!! It's the most beautiful monument in the world I think !!!

Then if you like Architecture, you have to stop by the Cathedrale of Notre-Dame !!! Riverwalk of the Seine, Promenade in Montmartre. Top of the Eiffel Tower, Triumph Arc, Grande Arche, Montparnasse Tower, The Champs Elysées and Pigalle by night...

Many moods of the Seine

by shrimp56

The Seine is the pulse of Paris -- take advantage of all the views you can :)

On the left from the Samaritaine rooftop looking towards the Eiffel Tower [with the Pont des Arts in the middle ground. On the right Ile de la Cite FROM Pont des Arts!
.
The new pictures are of the Seine at night [Pont Neuf] and some views on a cold February day!

Be in Paris on the 14th July.

by pfsmalo

If you're in Paris around the 14th July, try to get a good spot for early in the morning around the Champs Elysees for the traditionnal march past, or as high as you can get around 10.50 for the fly-past. In 2008 I was lucky enough to be at a friends place (7th floor) and got a good view of the 'planes moving down the Champs Elysees and around down to the south of Paris.

Things to bring

by newsphotogirl

I brought good walking shoes. There are lots of cobblestones that are hard on you if you wear heels. I also wore jeans and black pants. Basic neutral colors seem best if you don't want to stand out. In the winter bring a warm coat and wear a scarf. An umbrella is a must. Bring basic headache and cold medicine. I got a cold while there and had trouble describing my symptoms to the pharmacist. All I knew how to say was "je suis malade". I couldn't tell her I had a sore throat. The pharmacies are clearly marked with a neon green cross. A good camera is a must. Bring plenty of film and if you use a lithium battery, make sure to bring and extra!
