river bus

by superpop

hello all its me again. we will be staying in a hotel near to argentine metro. could anyone advise us on the best uncomlicated way to get to the river bus, i think its called batobus. thank you in anticipation.

Re: river bus

by pfsmalo

The most uncomplicated way from Argentine metro is to take line 1, direction Chateau de Vincennes and get off 4 stops further on at Champs Elysees-Clemenceau. Walk towards the river down avenue Winston Churchill and you have the batobus stop right there. There are other ways of getting to the Batobus stops, but involve changing metro lines. There are buses that could do it but involve walking to a stop or changing, and you did say uncomplicated.

Travel Tips for Paris

Eiffel Tower

by doreenellen

Eiffel Tower
3 Stages to get to the top
The first 2 stages you can walk up the steps
We went right up to the top by lift, stopping at the half way stage.
Amazing Sight, never to be forgotten
But get there early to avoid the crowds

There are 47 bridges - and you see a few from that height Many but the tower is one of the top memories for me, to see across the city.

Montmartre

by Helga67

Montmartre is a very attractive hill. You can climb the hill to visit the beautiful Sacre Coeur Basilica or just stroll along the cobbled narrow alleys and enjoy the rural atmosphere. At the former village square Place du Tertre you will find a lot of artists. Walking up the stairs to the Sacre Coeur and looking over Paris from the square in front of the Basilica.

See the Alexandre III Bridge.

Definitely my favorite bridge in Paris! First saw it during the ferry cruise along the Seine River, it was majestic. At the other end of the bridge, you will be able to see the grand Hotel Des Invalides.

French people prefer to speak...

by gschindl

French people prefer to speak french! You have to respect them - forget you style of living - you have to life there like French people - thats in restaurants and also everywhere else. If you can't speak French - don't worry - French people are nice if you try to life like them. Avoid to say in restaurant things like 'I don't know what to eat - I'm hungry I want to eat a lot - that's all' if you are asked what to eat. Ask what the waiter would recomand you - thats always a good choice!

Packing List

by Anasia

This is a city, u dont need a tent so avoid the back-pack when u come to Paris. Just take a small bag so that u can take ur wallet, a map and a french dictionnary (always very useful!). Comfortable shoes if u want to wander thru the streets (the parisian ground is full of surprises: cobblestones and old tarmac).
Keep the high-heels to go clubbing.
