Great Location and Service

This hotel has everything I want in a stay: great location, good service, clean room and an awesome buffet breakfast. It was so easy to walk to the Louvre from the Hotel. There was nice shopping and we were very close to the Opera Garnier and the Place de Concorde. The hotel itself is small with 130 rooms . Upon entering the hotel there is a nice sitting room, chek in, conceirge, library and bar on the main floor. Rooms are accessible by spiral staircase or elevator. Our room was on the third floor and had a nice garden view with french doors opening onto the terrace. The room itself was a nice size with a bed, desk and bathroom. The bathroom was a nice size and had bathrobes and slippers. The tub was a nice size and larger than I would have expected.

Unique Quality: The buffet breakfast was realy incredible here. It was included in the price of the room (in which we paid extra but it wasn't too bad a price). The dining room was very nice with waiters serving coffe and tea. We helped ourselves to the various breakfast items on the buffet tables. The spread included: assorted hot and cold cereal, cold cuts, cheeses, pastry, eggs, bacon, breads, fresh and dried fruits, yogurt, juices and sausages. On the tables were some nice preserves to choose from. Liz was in love with the Apricot and had enjoyed in before on her visits to Paris.

More about Astor Saint Honore

Loved Hotel Astor Saint-Honore & staff....

by A TripAdvisor Member

My husband and I just returned from our vacation in the South of France and Paris. Most of the hotels we stayed at were Premium hotels run by the Best Western chain. In Paris, we spent one week at the Hotel Astor Saint-Honore, where we had a wonderful time. The Concierge - Denis and Jean Francois, were terrific. They were very helpful and accommodating, and assisted us with any enquiries we had regarding restaurants, sightseeing, etc. Our room, which was on the sixth floor and had a a terrace with lovely flower baskets, was quite delightful.

Overall, we had a terrific vacation. We enjoyed our stay at all of the hotels and would highly recommend any one of them. Our favorite however was the Hotel Astor Saint-Honore, because of its location, the ambience, lovely decor, and most of all, the Concierge and the wonderful front desk and other staff. Of course, we loved Paris, and we would definitely stay there again!!

Many thanks once again to everyone at Hotel Astor Saint-Honore, expecially Denis, Jean Francois and the Front Desk Staff.

Astor St. Honore - top notch

by TripAdvisor Member englandlover

I surprised my husband with a birthday trip to Paris on November 3, staying at the Astor St. Honore. What a lovely hotel, with our room overlooking the center courtyard. The king bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. The room was spotless, bathroom had huge luxurious towels and warm terry bathrobes for both of us. Service was outstanding. Denis, the head concierge, helped arrange several other surprises for my husband, and all went off just as planned. He also recommended a wonderful restaurant- Pre Catalan- in the Bois de Boulogne area...horribly expensive, but a once-in-a-lifetime experience. He arranged a beautiful birthday cake to be served at the end of our meal. Denis truly understands service, and tries to make your stay the most pleasant experience. I highly recommend the hotel, for price, location and the outstanding service. I most definitely will return.

Disappointing

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed four miserable nights at this hotel. There was no air conditioning during the summer in Paris. Needless to say, it was impossible to sleep. There wer no screens so one had to choose between suffocation or bugs and random stranger walking into your room from the courtyard.

Dont' expect privacy here. Promptly at 10 AM some one came in the room bringing a note about the TV Set, and, I kid you not, A man appeared at our courtyard window washing it and staring in the window. We were so pleased we chose the suffocation option rather than leaving the window open.

The staff was uniformly unpleasant and unhelpful. The concierge could be the prototype for the snooty French administrative type. They have perfected the mannerism of ignoring you and looking away pretending to be busy with something with something else when they don't want to give you waht you ask for.

Expect to pay extra for everything here. A poorly prepared Continental breakfast buffet, that would be free at most hotels was 25 Euro here. Internet access was 22 Euro a night int the room. They also have a Business center which is kept locked and for which you must pay 9 Euro per half hour!!

The location is not bad, though it is on a small street and was under construction when we came in 6/2005.
It is close to the St. Augustin Metro and the rooms were clean and well decorated, though small by American Standards.

In sum, a thouroughly inhospitable place. I would avoid as if my life depended on it.

Paris in style

by A TripAdvisor Member

Having just come back from our trip to Paris, we have to say that the hotel definitely was one of the highlights! From the beginning, the staff made us feel at home, and the concierge found us a nice little bistro near the Madeleine on our 2nd day.
Having read about the failing a/c, we were a bit worried as it was announced to be over 30 degree for the weekend, but when we entered the room, it was running away nicely and coming back to the room was a real pleasure after walking around in the heat of Paris each day.
The rooms are not overly big, but lovingly decorated and spotless clean in comparison to other European destinations we have been to. We were also given an upgrade and had a lovely view over the roofs of Paris to the Eiffel tower.
The prices on the door are rather high, but we booked it in connection with the Eurostar as a package which was a lot more reasonable, although still not cheap.
Should we need a hotel in Paris in the future, we will definitely return, as this is a very pleasant and central place to explore the city from.

Loved the Astor!

by A TripAdvisor Member

Would stay there again in a heart beat! We had a deluxe suite on the 6th floor, lovely room with two floors, downstairs marbel bathroom, sofa, tv, internet connection and 2 chairs with table, upstairs amazing bed! We really loved our room. The staff was incredible, whatever we needed they got it for us! Great location & quiet. Room did have a/c. The hotel smelled wonderful too! Bar is nice but expensive, for two coffee's $12.00. It was our first trip to Paris and we were really impressed with this hotel.

What's right and what's wrong with it!?

by A TripAdvisor Member

What's right with it?
Very nice 4 star hotel
Excellent staff that were always on hand to help (spoke good English)
Had free upgrade because we needed a 3rd bed for our 3 year old daughter
Good location (walking distance to shops, metro and RER)
Rooms clean and tidy with good facilities
Supermarket at the end of the street that sells good fresh food

What's wrong with it?
Restaurant and bar were well over prices and as such had to eat out every night, or get stuff and bring it back to the hotel. (We had a bar snack on the last night as a treat and it came to 68 Euros!)
No English TV channels for the kids
One member of staff walked in without knocking to put some fresh towels in (this was once only and i think he thought we hadn't checked in yet as it was the 1st day)
Too far to walk to main attractions (Louvre, Eiffel Tower etc)
Breakfast was good but could have been better for 4 star. (Restaurant staff seemed a bit down all week and I would always have to ask for more coffee as they woul donly pour you one cup)
No pool
They organised transport for us to and from the airport and stung us 310 euros for it! Bad end to the holiday!

Overall:
I would choose this hotel for a cosy 3-4 day romantic trip to Paris but wouldn't go for 7 days again with a child as there is nothing for them to do in the hotel. You would have to eat out everynight and just for the record each night i looked in the restaurant it was empty

Top Class Hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

I stayed at this hotel with my husband over Valentines. A great location, just a few streets away from the Champs Elysees. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The hotel was amazing, very very clean and everything looked so new. When you came back in the evenings they had a turn down service with a chocolate on your bed. Cooked Breakfast was a great start to the day. What else can I say......Top Class Hotel.

A fine central hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

The best comparision for this hotel is, in our opinion, the Grosvenor Park Hotel, Park Lane London but on a very much smaller scale. The decor is so similar you might think they shared the same interior designer.
All in all this is a very good quality city centre hotel. The rooms are substantially bigger than most rooms we have stayed in before in Paris (we had a deluxe room on the 5th floor). The bathrooms are clean and classicly modern. The airconitioning was a welcome asset on a hot sunny day.
If you have paid for breakfast with your room, they will bring it to your room for no extra charge, a nice touch.
The TV can get CNN and BBC World.
10 minutes walk from the Champs Elysee in this prime area of Paris, the concierge is happy to offer recommendations of where to eat or drink in the area as well as suggestions for an evening out.
The Metro is close by so you can access all areas of the city, a taxi to/from CDG airpost is around 40 Euros and takes 1/2 hour.

Tiny room, good location, fitness info

by TripAdvisor Member Geetika

I booked through travelocity and the room we were given was TINY. There was barely enough room to put two suitcases and luggage. Fortunately we were not in the room very much. The location is very good.

The fitness room is not very well-equiped. There is a Club Med nearby that offers a one-day pass for 25 euros or a 3 day pass for 50 euros (not open on Sunday, but can be used at other locations) - an alternate option for the gym enthusiast.

The young conceirge was not very helpful, but the other staff was very helpful.
