Paris Souvenir

by Purush

Which is the best place (Market) to buy a Souvenir in Paris and apart from Eiffel Tower miniatures, any other items you would suggest ?

Re: Paris Souvenir

by Beausoleil

You need to tell us what kind of souvenirs. For typical souvenirs, pedmar is right. The shops on rue de Rivoli have it all including the little Eiffel Towers you mentioned. If your wife is going with you, she might enjoy visiting a scarf shop and getting a nice scarf. That's what I always get as my souvenir and they are pretty and very useful. My favorite scarf shop is Diwali. Here is a list of addresses and phone numbers. I usually visit the one on the Ile St. Louis because the Ile is such fun to visit anyway. If you have children with you, Ile St. Louis has several Berthillon's ice cream shops and it is, IMHO, the best ice cream anywhere . . . except my husband's homemade ice cream. ;^)

Here is a list of addresses and phones for Diwali scarf shops:
52 rue St. Louis en L'Ile, phone 01 4634-8395 (Ile St. Louis in the 4th)
47/49 rue Mouffetard, phone 01 4336-1902 (Latin Quarter)
7 rue de la Huchette, phone 01 4326-3330 (Latin Quarter)
14 rue Soufflot, phone 01 4051-8913 (Latin Quarter)
40 rue St. Andres des Arts, phone 01 4329-1009 (St. Germain district)
5 rue Norvins, phone 01 4254-1635 (just off Pl. du Tertre in Montmartre)

I always find the area walking toward Sacre Coure.. there are lots of tourist shops the prices vary but the products don't...
I have travelled to Paris alot and always wondered why you could not get the Ultimate fun gift of the Eiffel tower as a salt shaker --- well this year I found them at Vassilerie (sp) for 6.95 Euros... they are clear glass and are very fun... my friends loved them-- well one friend cringed.. a truely Kitch gift... enjoy this wonderful city!!

Travel Tips for Paris

Parisian waiters/waitresses are friendly!

by svoures

Despite the many warnings about the rudness of the parisian waiters, we found them to be very friendly indeed. Everywhere we went and despite our very poor french (only the basic phrases), they gave us loads of information about where to go, offered us free drinks (!!!) and the service was great.

Why Air France coach??

by Imbi

Can any one tell me why people give advice to take Air France coach to get to city ??? its expensive and not really convenient for those people who arrive at Terminal 3. don’t take this coach as its expensive unless you arrive at Terminal 2 and you have euros to spend on silly things.

Paris Tip

Sitting on some steps near the Pompidou Centre...writing in my journal and looking at this funky fountain. It was a crisp, sunny morning in September. This is an interesting contrast...a modern fountain against such an ancient church.

French people are as rude as...

by dtsmith910

French people are as rude as everyone says they are. Sorry if that offends anyone. Maybe it's just the ones in Paris. They all speak English but God forbid they use it. The garbage men are really cool though. They run around in little green suits and look like leperchauns. If you're lost or have a question, ask one of them because they're much more friendly.

bring a bag that is easy to carry around and have an empty bag to fill with all your new clothes! sort out all the clothes you would like to take, then only take half of that pile! you can get anything and everything you need in paris so why not try some french shampoo! as little as possible!
