Transportation in and outside of Paris

by citod

We need some advice on transportation options around Paris. We'll be there for 4 days staying near the Eiffel Tower. We plan on one day in Versailles. At the end of our stay we'll be leaving Paris for Chartres where we'll pick up a rental car. I think our hotel is in a central location and we plan on walking a lot. I know we'll still need to use the metro/bus/etc on occassion. I'm confused by the various transportation cards and wondering if we wouldn't be ok just getting tickets as we go. Any suggestions?

pedmar is correct. Don't buy the various passes, instead ask for a carnet of 10 Metro tickets that you can share. You'll have to get a separate ticket on the RER out to Versailles, but that is easy to do.

Enjoy your trip. Sounds like great fun.

Thanks so much for the input. After a lot of planning we're down to the little details, like this. Now we're just counting the days! Thanks again

visit the Byzantine-style...

visit the Byzantine-style Basilica - Sacré-Coeur, located in the heart of a 19th century village of painters, sculptors and poets (Montmartre)! And whilst you're here exploring the beautiful basilica, I'm sure you'd be charmed by the quaint village atmosphere of Montmartre and it's main square, the fabled Place du Tertre!

Local Artists on the Seine

by ncoutroulis

Just by walking around Paris, it's easy to see why all the great artists came here. Still today, you can find artists from all over the world, painting street scenes of Paris, especially on the Seine, and in Montmarte.
