A nice place to stay
by mcelhinnie about Hotel Boileau
We always stay here while in Paris. We like the hotel, the price, and we love the neighborhood. The hotel rooms are small but larger for Paris. It is quiet and safe. The staff could not be nicer even after you ask for your key a million times because you are doing your laundry down the street. This is a business hotel so it fills up quickly during the week. Oh, and the bathrooms are large!

Any suggestions for New Year Eve in Paris?
by mar2007
I know I’m planning early but I can’t help it I’m afraid. I am planning to take my wife to Paris for a New Years Eve as a surprise. Reading other forums it sounds like the Champs Elysees is the area to be in, spending the evening in a good restaurant before joining the crowds for Midnight.
I would appreciate anyone’s thoughts and ideas of what to do along with recommendations on hotels and restaurants.
Many Thanks,
Andy.

We have spent it at both C. Elysees and at the Eiffel tower. It was pretty rowdy at both and someone kept dropping firecrackers through the crowd at the tower. The next day someone had sprayed the storefronts near the Arc with, I guess, bullets. It was the only times I have ever felt less than safe in Paris. Either way get to your choice early and hold your spot. My wife and I love the Hotel Boileau and the restaurants and the areas around it. It is only around 90 euros a night. We always stay there even though we always say we are going to find a new place. I guess that is the best recommendation a hotel can have.
