River Seine Bridge Names
by Jac82
Hi
Does anyone know the name of the bridge that is just past Notre Dame Cathedral? My boyfried proposed there last year and we are getting married this year and are going to have the table names as places in Paris. I would like the top table to be the name of this bridge but I am having difficulty in finding it out.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks

It's name is "Petit-Pont" (small bridge). This names comes from the fact that it is standing over the smaller arm of the Seine river.

Thanks for the post. It is a bridge on the other side of Notre Dame I am looking for. I think we went down the steps to the river side from Pont au Double and as far as I can tell the next one after that is Pont de l'Archeveche. However, the images I have been able to see on the net of this bridge don't really look like it. Are there any bridges before this one from Pont au Double? Also, is the next one from Pont de l'Archeveche definitely Pont de la Tournelle? We could see Notre Dame in the background so don't think we could have been as far down as that.
Thanks for your help!

Heading southeast from Notre Dame (starting at Pont au Double, you see Archeveche, then Tournelle, then Pont de Sully and much further Pont d'Austerlitz and all of them have great views of the back of Notre Dame, getting farther and farther away, of course. Our very first view of Notre Dame was from Pont d'Austerlitz and I'll never forget it even though it was many many years ago.
I'm going to Google and find the little orange man mentioned above. Sounds like fun. Thanks for the Tip.

The next one down from Pont de l'Archeveché is definitly Pont de la Tournelle, it is the one with the statue of Ste. Genevieve on it.

True Pedro, her question is (wasn't) very clear.
Travel Tips for Paris
Walk everywhere.

My favorite thing about Paris were these little cars called Smart. I think BMW or Mercedes makes them. They can't be more than 6 feet long. They are perfect for European city commuters: they're small, they can fit into all the narrow streets and you can park them anywhere. I want one for my living room!
Go to the Champs-Ellysees,...
by santax
Go to the Champs-Ellysees, mainly to take a picture of the Arch of Triumph. Then go down the avenue to shop or have coffee at the cafes. This is a very 'American' place (it kind of reminds me of 5th Ave in New York with its stores, cars speeding by, etc.), so you won't see anything very unique to the French here but it's still a nice place to relax, shop, and drink.
Sancerre Wine
by BeatChick
I believe it was shrimp56 who advised me a few years back to try Sancerre wine. It's an excellent wine with which to start you wine education. It reminds me distinctly of Merlot BUT it’s French.
A versatile Loire wine, you may drink it as a red (rouge), white (blanc) or rosé; it's not too dry & is a smidgen fruity. The varietal is a pinot noir and is described as "Full ruby with a hint of garnet-red...Aromas of morello-cherries on brandy; leathery and smoky impressions...Pleasant first impression with evidence of tannin. This wine needs to round out while" aging.
But my advice to you is to drink as much Sancerre wine in Paris as possible! Last trip, I tried it in as many restaurants as I could find it: Le Vieux Bistro, Trumilou, and La Boulangerie.

Jogging in Paris
by CALSF
It's not really considered a formal sport but I noticed alot of Parisians jogging around Paris on my last visit in December 2004. Along the Seine, in the gardens, and even in the neigborhood streets, jogging seems to be catching on here.
So if you are a jogger don't hesitate to jog in Paris. You will be just like a local.
