Best Hotel For The Price

I recently took a group of 84 participants to Paris and we stayed at the Brebant Hotel. We were greeted by hotel staff who were professional, competent, and polite. All our rooms were ready and waiting for us. We had absolutely no problems. Our rooms were small, but very clean and the bathrooms were very modern. My room overlooked the street, which I enjoyed very much. Daily breakfast, was buffet style, and very good. The Metro stop is exactly outside the front door...what could be better? This hotel is located in a neighborhood that has many cafes, stores, and other shops. The area is very interesting and safe for taking walks. In fact, the Opera National de Paris Garnier and the Galeries Lafayette are but a five minute walk from the hotel. I am taking another group to Paris and Rome this November (2007) and I hope to stay there again.

Unique Quality: Cleanliness, courteous employees, professional demeanor. This is a great hotel for the price.

Bebont Hotel

I stayed 6 nights at the Brebont Hotel (Sept.14,2006 to Sept. 20, 2006)
The hotel is well located on Blvd. Poissonniere (Blvd. Haussmann) about 5 min. walk from the Opera Garnier, about 10-15 min. walk from the Louvre and with the metro stop Grands Boulevard (lines 8+9) right outside the door.
The staff was always helpful and friendly.
There are 2 elevators for guest use and both are entirely adequate for people with suitcases. My brother and I stood in one elevator, with his suitcase and my large backpack on my back with no problems at all.
The hallways do have a slightly slanted feeling to them but keep in mind that this is an older building. They don't squeak or creak and all of the carpeting is in good condition throughout the hotel.
The room we had (#385) was a 3 person with shower/bath, toilette ensuite. Also in the room was an air-conditioning unit on the wall, a telephone, writing desk, 3 chairs, a large closet with 2 large mirrors, a tv and mini-bar. The only complaint I could say I have about the hotel room was the hard pillows.
The breakfast was included in our price (it's otherwise 8 Euros). The selection (3 cereals, yogurt, cold milk, coffee, hot chocolate, and 3 types of rolls) was good and constantly being restocked.
All in all, the Brebont is a very good place to stay if you go to Paris. The location is outstanding with a metro outside the door, the rooms are comfortable and the staff are friendly.

More about Brebant Hotel

The Happiest Happy Hour

by Geisha_Girl about Le Brébant

Tucked away on a busy corner of the Grands Boulevards in Paris is Le Brébant, a café that quickly became one of my favorite Happy Hour hangouts.

It was a delight to stumble upon this lively and charming cafe (with an equally lively and charming wait staff!). It's a newly renovatd cafe with a trendy, modern interior and a terasse that gives you the best views for people-watching on the boulevard. Definitely worth a visit several times a week!

If you go to any hip, well-situated bar in central Paris, you'd typically have to reach deep into your pockets for any of the brand-name liquor. The best part of Cafe Brebant is their Happy Cocktail Hour.

Not only is the drink menu impressively extensive.....but from 7pm to 9pm every night, 7 days a week, it's tres cheap!! Cocktails for 4.50 Euros and champagne cocktails for 6.50 Euros. The Mojito Royale is my absolute favorite. A truly irresistible mojito mixed with champagne. Two of my favorite cocktails all in one!

Remember, cocktails are HALF PRICE until 9pm, so feel free to order doubles!

A great crowd, and fun place to stop before heading out for a fanc(ier) dinner in Paris! Along with the Mojito Royale, another yummy item on the menu is served at lunch. The Brebant Club sandwich melts in your mouth!

What an amazing city

by saltwaterandsails

Undoubtably in Europe's top 3 best cities - arguably the best city.

Highlights
*view from the Eiffel Tower
*architecture
*fine dining (missed that the first time when I backpacked through)
*french patisseries
*people watching
*window shopping
*dodging the traffic - would be a lowlight if you are not adventureous

Lowlights
*some unfriendly/arrogant french people - although must say we were lucky
*metro was not good with a pram - so I guess not wheelchair friendly
*expensive accomodation
*learnt the hard way about booking hotel rooms on internet
*Hotel Brebant CRAP, Novotel good - particularly for families
*EuroDisney seemed no different to LA - but then again it's hard not to have a good time at Disney
* finding a toilet - but that is a European thing.
