Paris City Tour with Eiffel Tower, Illumination tour & LIDO show

by SamirGarg

We are a family of 9 with 4 children travelling from India to Paris.
On 17th May Afternoon, we want to do Paris City Tour with Eiffel Tower, Illumination tour & LIDO show. Kindly let us know the most convenient mode of covering these places as we are staying in Cosy's Residence Cadet. Should we take a tour to cover these?
On the 19th May, we want to visit Louvre Mueseum & Versailles. How should we cover these both in 1 day?

Thanks in advance & have a nice day.

I think for a family of that size (having read your previous posts) that you are pushing too hard. Children do best on touring when time is allowed for relaxation. For instance when you go to the Louvre, in the gardens you can rent little sailboats and sail them in the fountains. The kids would enjoy that.

It is better to see one or two things and have a relaxed and happy family rather than push push and end up with tired cranky children. No one will really enjoy themselves.

You can certainly do a hop-on-hop-off bus or a Cityrama tour. You can go to the Eiffel Tower at night and see the illuminations. Versailles can be done on an afternoon tour. Bear in mind that there will be lines for inspection of parcels at all these places.

You can see as much as you want to see and have the energy for at the Louvre. When my daughter did it with a six year old and a teenager, she let the teen go ahead at a faster pace and she and her husband and the little boy go slower and see less. Their son counted cupids and that kept him happy.

As suggested already Cityrama might be your best bet for tours! you can google them and it tells you what they offer!!
I also agree that the pace may be a bit much for children..depending on their age! Actually when I travelled with my friend and her two young children the kids did better than we did... enjoy!

Travel Tips for Paris

Of course, you must.....

by vivalasteph

I would be repeating myself, and the advice of millions, to say that the Eiffel Tower is a must. It is. Go. Stand in line for a ticket. Stand in line for the lift. Stand in line again for the smaller lift. Elbow your way to get a good spot along the railing. It is completely worth it.

On the first level are shops and cafes. On the second level is the well-known Jules Verne restaurant.

There is a post office where you can purchase stamps and envelopes postmarked "Tour Eiffel". Buy a postcard and send someone a special treat. As we approached the Tower, it was chilly and the sun was shining. By the first level it had started to drizzle. By the time we reached the second level it was really raining.

So up the final lift we go, out on the deck and up the last few stairs to the open-air deck and voila! A blizzard! The snow was circling around the top of the Tower, blurring everything below. All of us up there were laughing so hard! Snow at the top of the tower in March!

By the time we returned to the first level, it had gotten dark and the rain stopped. As we exited the tower on the ground, we looked back up and the lights came on!

We spent about 2 hours at the Tower, but the pictures suggest we were there in 3 different seasons! Wonderful memory!

Lovely City View

by Imbi

Such a lovely experience when you go to the platform at the top of the Arc de Triomphe for some grand views of Paris. The Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile is the largest triumphal arch in the world. it's on high ground at the center of the star (etoile) formed by 12 avenues radiating out from a ring road around the Arc.

Parlez vous francais?

by JulesH

You absolutely must at least make the effort to speak French! If you don't, be prepared to get little help as the Parisians understandably hate ignorance. It's better to try and fail than not to try at all! If you try, you will soon discover just how wonderfully the Parisians speak English...or just how much you remember of your childhood french lessons!

Good Old-fashioned Film

by CALSF

Yes, I know, how many of us actually carry the traditional old-fashioned camera nowadays? Well, there are some of us who still wish to use these types of cameras. In case you are one of these visitors to Paris, please be sure to bring extra rolls of film. You sure don't want to stop and look for some overpriced souvenir shop to buy your extra film. The prices in Paris are tremendous.
