Great Hotel for the Price
by TripAdvisor Member Kamil78
This was my third trip to Paris, first time ever for my girlfriend. I have to state that this hotel was great for the price we paid for it. Good service, very friendly staff ( for Paris ), clean rooms and location was just amazing. We're close to all the main attractions as well as the metro. Highly recommended for anyone experiencing Paris for the very time!
All fine apart from rooms far too hot

No complaints about the hotel other than that the air-conditioning was woefully inadequate. It wasn't a hot day, but my room was stifling and even with the aircon on full it wouldn't cool down to a comfortable level. A colleague staying on another floor reported the same problem.
And no, you can't open the window - they're all locked.
Nice and comfortable hotel

My husband and I just came back from our exhasuting trip in Paris, exhausting in the sense that there so many places to see in just a few days. Anyway, I would like to say that this hotel has lived up to its standard. The room where we stayed has the courtyard view, nothing special about it but the room is extremely quiet, we could have a very good night sleep everytime we came back from a tiring trip. Our room is quite small but comfortable, the bathroom is very clean and nice. The metro station is just few steps away; the metro station is connected to the train station Gare Montparnasse. If you know how to use their subway system, it's indeed very convenient to travel around. There are lots of good restaurants and supermarkt where one can buy food and drink at a normal price. The check in is still a chaos, we waited for almsot half hour till the receptionist checked us in, although we booked our room 2 months ahead, the receptionist looked confused, apparently he is just a trainee. The breakfast is simple, it's the same everyday with not really many choices. The hotel is quite modern and located in a good neighbourhood. There are rooms with a Eiffel Tower view. Our advice to other tourists, buy a "Paris Visite" card (from airport, railway stations etc...), you can travel around Paris with Metro, buses, RER and C trains, plus, you get percentage off in most of the museums and attractions. Be warned that the metro staions aren't fully adapted for disabled, many metro stations don't have elevators and escalators. My husband and I will definitely stay in this hotel if we visit Paris again next year.

We're traveling to paris for the first time for a long weekend. Thinking of stating at the Hotel Concorde Montparnasse. We don't like staying in touristy areas. Is this a good area to stay? Hotel? Recommendations for restaurants. It ppaears to be easy to travel to the hotel from CDG

Montparnasse is my favourite area to stay in Paris and no it is not as "touristy" as some other areas> It is more a business district but it abounds in fabulous restaurants, shops etc. this is the home of the famouse "La Coupole" restaurant which has been famous in Paris for many decades. You can go to the top of The Montparnasse Tower for a fabulous view all over Paris and of course the Eiffel Tower is within walking distance and can be seen from many parts of the Montparnasse area. The Air France Shuttle from CDG will take you to Gare Montparnasse. The pick up points at CDG are well signed and easy to find. You need to travel on Line 4. and it will cost approx 13 Euro (the last time I looked.) The Hotel Concorde seems to be situated not too far from Gare Montparnasse.

forgive me for "tagging-on" to the end of this post - what arrangements have to be made to go-up the Montparnasse Tower? Do you just turn-up and go-up? Or are there tickets, queues? etc?
Anyone who responds to original post who knows, please add a comment!
Thanks!
