A Sightseeing Marvel
A trip down the Seine gives you the opportunity to see a lot from the river I had my 50th birthday party in Paris at the eiffel tower and on a Seine cruise. I miss all of it as well as all of Western Europe that I saw.

I booked with Yellowvan, the confirmation came back as Parishuttle.
I agreed to 36 Euros to be charge to my cr. cd. on the confirmation it says "Total Cost: 36 Eur 14 EUR extra to the driver- ALREADY PAID ( the total amount has been charged on your cr.cd)" Does this mean that I still need to pay the driver an extra 14 Euros? No where did the order form mention anything extra. In fact it says tipping the driver is up to you.
Thanks for any help, this is my first trip to Paris.
I find it very disturbing that I cannot open the Terms and Conditions click through at the booking form. Both the French and the English one is not working.

i like to read the T&C before making any payments.
I think they have overcharged you. We used "Yellowvan" in mid June this year - booking through the hotel desk ..paying €24 upfront at the desk. The balance (€14) was paid to the driver at the airport. Done that way, I suspect, to make it more likely that he receive a tip.
The van was a "black" shuttle & driver said the two van lines had merged their businesses. There seemed to be some confusion with their management. We booked 48 hours ahead. Were given a written confirmation by the hotel desk of price and pick up time but between getting that confirmation and actually being picked up the pick up time was changed three times. Finally the van arrived 45 minutes earlier than the final time we had been given & had to wait for us to check out. We had planned to depart hotel 4 hours before flight time. The trip to the airport (at 8:30 am) took 1 hour 15 minutes door to door; Check-in 30 minutes; passport check 20 minutes; coffee and cake 15 minutes; security check 30 minutes. I'm glad we allowed that 4 hour margin. Had the 45 minutes change in the van pick up time been the other way (late) we would have been worried.
We used this company on a recommendation from a VT member in June to take us to the airport. Pre-booked 48 hours earlier. They had us waiting for 45 minutes on the pavement with our luggage. My husband went back to the apartment we had just vacated and tried to phone them. After some time someone said they had a breakdown and would be there in 10 mins. When the driver arrived, after 15 minutes, he said he had just been asked to pick us up 15 minutes earlier! Obviously they had forgotten/not recorded our booking. We rushed through the Paris traffic and made it to the airport with no time to do shopping/emails etc.
Driver was pretty aggressive and was annoyed that we were upset at waiting so long and putting our travel in jeopardy. Kept saying it wasn't his fault - even though he was the representative of the Yellowvan company! Wouldn't recommend them as they appear to be unreliable.

No doubt Eiffel Tower is the first thing that a normal tourist must see. Those who keep fit can climp on it by steps, or if you're too tired to experience that you'll have to wait your turn on a lift for some time.
Luxemburg palace is surrounding with beautiful park, Luxemburg Garden. Garden has some interesting paths with sculptures. In one of guidebooks I read that it’s real open air museum of French sculpture of XIX century. Luxemburg Garden is one of the popular places in Paris to spend free time for walking. I can say that it’s fantastic place to enjoy sunset.
“To err is human. To loaf is Parisian.”
— Victor Hugo (1802-1885)
SUMMER LOAFING Our visit coincided with the sixth annual installment of Paris Plage, when a two-mile stretch of Rive Droite is turned into a beach with 2,000 tons of golden sand. Potted palm trees, blue chaise lounges and sun umbrellas help Parisians loaf in style.
Unlike many beaches in France, topless sunbathing is not allowed; Paris Plage is a family friendly happening. Swimming in the Seine is verboten.
Some locations of the beaches, they do not line the entire length of the river, are listed below.
From the Louvre to Pont de Sully
Opened in 2002, this 1.8- mile stretch was the first plage. It runs along the River Seine through historical Paris, and features a swimming pool, concert stage, rollerblading, tai-chi, wall climbing, boules etc.
The beach at Port de la Gare is below the François Mitterrand National Library in the 13th arrondissement. This spot is for the cerebral crowd not the family; it offers free newspapers, books on loan, a café with wi-fi access, and classes in drawing, painting, writing, etc. The floating swimming pool, named for Joséphine Baker, gives relief from the heat in the daytime, and musical shows are offered on the boats moored by the river banks.
It's important to be well prepaired when you go to Paris. Be sure to have a good map of the center city, and it won't be hard to get around.
As for bags, you may want to have a bag with wheels if you are going to walk to get to your hotel, and a sack to take with you on sightseeing.
It's also a good idea to get to know the most common words and frases in French so you'll be able to order food and drinks without problems. To explore Paris the best way, you need to bring a good comfortable pair of shoes, cause you'll be walking a lot. Paris is one of the most photographic places in the world, with a million things worth 'shooting' so bring a camera for sure and a lot of film, or a big memory card if you have a digital camera. There are a lot of beautiful parks in Paris where you can go relax or have some fun, so it might be a good idea to bring a blanket, maybe a frisbee or your rollerskates.
