hotel near stade de France

by jojes

We'll be going to Paris in september to attend a concert.
Does anyone know a good hotel near stade de France ?
Doesn't have to be anything posh, just nice clean hotel with decent breakfast.

Thanks for the info.

thanks for the info !

So you wouldn't advice staying in Saint-Denis ?

How far are the other hotels you mentioned from SDF ?
We're coming to Paris by Thalys from Brussels, arriving in Gare du Nord. Is that a better alternative ?

The Marriott just opened a hotel in St. Denis. Prices are reasonable. Also, Gare du Nord is only one stop from St. Denis - there are many, many hotels at the doorsteps of Gare du Nord.

Thanks for the info.
Do you know if there is an extra bus/metro/train service to the suburbs when there's a concert in SDF ?

Sorry I don't know if transportation is added for concerts. Check the RER time tables - I have found the RER B to be frequent howevever. Also, the hotel I have stayed at near Gare du Nord is the Hotel Mecure (www.mercure.com). It is literally across the street from the entrance to Gare du Nord.

Travel Tips for Paris

English Translations

by keeper7

Everywhere you can find signs written in english & french. Some of the english translations need to be better. If you get confused it's best to ask a police officer or a local. Tourist areas have more people that know english versus the rural areas.

The skyscrapers sous le ciel de Paris...

by jglsongs

La Defense is growing, exploding and becoming more and more a city unto itself. (I remember when the Metro went as far as Neuilly and was still under construction for the final stretch to La Defense.

The easiest way to get to this area is to take the Metro (#1) to La Defense (final stop). It's not the most interesting and definitely not the most picturesque part of the city (and technically, it's outside the Périphique), but it does shed light on Paris as not only a beautiful, historic city, but also a working, vibrant, industrial, 21st Century city.

The Grand Arche (in direct line with the Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees and the Tuilleries) is a powerful statement that Paris is the old, the new, the past and the future.

Paris is impossible without:...

Paris is impossible without: 4. Notre Dame de Paris – actually it sould be #0. It is wonderful, it is unbelievable. The entrance to the cathedral is free, entrance to the towers – 36 FF (reduced price is 20FF). But before you go upstairs, you will spend an hour or so in the line. Then, you will go upstairs by foot, and only then you will enjoy the beauty of the city from the top of Notre Dame.

Please try to speak some...

by sls_2001

Please try to speak some French, however bad. The French people really love their language and if you at least try they will respect you. And they're not as rude as you've been told. I've met a lot ruder people here in America.

Pack A Small Flashlight

by CALSF

It's helpful to pack a mini flashlight for those midnight trips to the WC. Hotel rooms are compact making your chances of stubbing your toe easier and sometimes the light switches are not in convenient locations. So one way to avoid this is to have a flashlight handy.
