Musee Rodin Question

by MapleMoose

Let's see if anyone can beat Pedro to this one! While walking past the Rodin Museum on Rue Varenne on Google street view I noticed the massive line outside. Now I know you can go in the gardens only for 1 Euro if you don't want to go in the main building. My question then is obvious: Do the gardens people have to queue with the museum people to buy a ticket?

I went there recently and yeah, it's the same line.

Thanks, I may pass on it then as I was thinking about going to the Gardens after visiting Eiffel Tower. The line would probably be immense midday I would think.

It is a wonderful museum!! Why don't you buy your tickets online - http://www.musee-rodin.fr/welcome.htm

Or get the Paris Museum Pass so you can bypass the lines. http://www.parismuseumpass.com/en/home.php

We've been there fairly often and there have been no lines. Keep in mind, Google Street View was one picture on one day. The line is is always in the one photograph but not necessarily always there in reality.

I would also say it's worth checking it out because there wasn't any line when we went, maybe there was something special going on when the picture was taken? In any case, it's not very far from the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides, so it's worth making a quick detour if you're in the area.

Where can't you take photos?

Re: Musee Rodin Question

by Donna_in_India

I agree but the worst offense of visitor's breaking the "no photos" rule was at the Louvre - Mona Lisa. Even the few guards around the painting did not enforce the rule. It was quite annoying. I'd like to see how well they do enforcing the rule at Orsay....but honestly, with cameras in cell phones, I don't think they'll be able to prevent photos being taken. Seems that it almost becomes a challenge for some people...

Can you take pictures in the Rodin ?

Travel Tips for Paris

Let your senses come alive in Paris...

by Colzy

As many other VTers have pointed out, the best thing about Paris is Paris itself. Enjoy it. Savour it. I have learnt through personal experiences that you have to grasp every opportunity presented to you with both hands.... what better way to do this then walking around the wonderful city of Paris with all your senses heightened soaking up all the tastes, smells and sights?

Get lost. You will surely stumble upon something of interest, in a city like Paris it is impossible not to. Spread your wings and try to speak the language, they may not understand you, but who cares?? They will appreciate the effort and you may not have another opportunity to try your hand at this beautiful language again. Take the road less travelled, take the deserted road parallel to the one all the tourists are walking along. And finally don't feel like you have to see everything in one day, you won't properly enjoy the experience that way. My fondest memory of Paris is too hard to pinpoint, but collectively they are an experience that will stay with me until the end of my days. It is truly one of the great citiies of the world.

Visit the museums..atleast...

Visit the museums..atleast Louvre and Orsay. Even if you are not very artistically inclined..a visit to these museums will definitely bring out the connoisseur in you. The picture on the left shows one of the sculptures in orsay..amazingly life like.

Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel

by Onedragon

THE BEAUTY O F THE MONUMENTS BUILT TO SHOW CONQUEST..ARE LEGACIES LEFT TO ALL WHO VENTURE THROUGH THESE STREETS.... The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel was built between 1806 and 1808 by Napoleon I following the model of the Arc of Constantine in Rome. The two arches built by Napoleon - Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel and the Arc de Triomphe at Etoile, were to commemorate his victories, and the grand army who had won them. The bronze horses on top of the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel were taken from Saint-Marc of Venice. These were later returned after WWII.
