I'm Portuguese and I stayed in Elysees Union in March 2006 with my boyfriend. The hotel is, generally, friendly: a bit old, showned in the not so good conditions of the furniture, our room was very small, but it was clean and the employees were helpfull (except one at breakfast...).
The best thing about this hotel is its location: near the Tour Eiffel and Arc du Triomphe, you could walk to both. And has good view from the windows: Tour Eiffel.
Ask For A Big Room

I stayed here with my girlfriend for 4 nights in March 06. We were initially put in a double room that had a view of the Eiffel Tower but it was very very small so we requested to be put in a larger room, the staff were very helpful (Victor & Pierre) and we were moved into a much larger double with a walk in wardrobe, so if you book make sure you specify a large room, preferably one in the court yard. The first room we had, had a broken shower and the 2nd one had no light in the toilet, this was fixed however it is little things that make the trip. The location is the Hotels best assest it is 300yds to arc d'triumph and 5 min walk to champs avenue, and 10 mins to eiffel tower. There are not that many restaurants in the proximity of the hotel they are more like cafes and bistros, when we went to notre dame district we found there was a lot more choice here. The breakfast which is included in the price is only a continental (coffee & croissants) any hot food is an extra price (6 euros for an omlette). Staff were helpful and to be honest you dont spend that much time in your room anyway so it is nice enough for a small break, may i re-itterate my previous words, make sure you ask for a large room rather than one with a view of the tower. Finally the metro and RER train lines are very easy to use we went on them every day to go to Disneyland and all over Paris and to the airport- Make sure you ask for an all day ticket these are only 5 euros and can take you everywhere rather than paying for single trip tickets.
