Montpanasse???

by cherrybug

A friend and I are coming to Paris in October for 3 days to see Placebo at the Bercy. Currently looking for reasonably priced, nice twin room at a hotel which is very near a metro link (preferably to Bercy).
We'd like to stay in an area which isn't too expensive and has nice restaurants/cafes and good nightlife. Wondered what Montpanasse area is like and also the latin quarter.
Also does anyone know what the Europe hotel is like?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Cherry

If the Europe hotel is the one in St Michel http://www.hotel-europe-st-severin-paris.federal-hotel.com/page_en_1.html Its great.
Its not the ritz, but it was reasonably priced, had streets of restaurants all around it, was a short walk to Hotel D'ville, Notre Dame, Palais de Justice etc, was close to the street sellers along the Seine.

Montparnasse is in the 14th district upwards from where the 5th is located. It's been described as a 'real' neighborhood as that's where alot of the locals reside whereas the 5th is typically filled with tourists and students. There are alot of cafes, shops, and nightlife but I find the 5th to be much nicer personally as it's closer to the river. The 14th is just as busy to me and I didn't really care for it that much. However, others prefer Montparnasse better due to its more residential atmosphere.

Regarding the hotel you mentioned, what is the full name and its address?

Hi - thanks for advice. Address of Europe hotel is Boulevard De Grenelle, Paris, 75015

Main priority is being somewhere very near a metro station with a few lines (so easy to get about) and not ridiculously touristy and expensive.
