 | Paris Grand Hotel Leveque Reviews | Tips 1 - 3 of 3 | | When hubby returned to Frankfurt after a short stint in France, I decided to stay behind to languish in her many museums . Since I always had to tighthen my belt without hubby , I had to search for an economical yet nice place to stay. Horrors! Would there be such a place in France? To my delight, there was. Grand Hotel Leveque was such a find and what was better, this little joint was situated in my favourite marketing street, Rue Cler, not too far from the Eiffel Tower. ( Ah, for those are you who know Paris well, marché rue Cler is one of the most vibrant neighborhood markets around town with lots of grocery shops and chic little delis.)
If you're ever here, look out for the tiny, ancient lift that runs the height of 6 storeys. It's so tiny that it can only fit one fat person at a time. Other than the lift, you'll like to know the condition of the room right? Well, I had a single with no attached loo. However, it was a charming little spot as it had a tiny French balcony, a tiny sink, cable tv, hair dryer and a comfy bed. How much more could I ask for 53 euros? On top of that, my first breakfast came free as I had a Rick Steves guide book.. Look out for the deli Fauchon, walk right from there into Rue Cler.Website: http://www.hotel-leveque.com |

A nice clean hotel in an ideal neighborhood. We paid just over 85e a night for a great double room w/ private bath and street view. We were on the top floor and had a view of the Eiffel Tower (well, just the top). The real draw is the street. Rue Cler is a perfect little market that looks like something out of 1950s Paris. Nothing like leaving your hotel in the morning to the smell of fresh bread and cheese. Avoid the Hotel breakfast at 9e and enjoy the market on Rue Cler. My only real complaint was the amount of people with their Rick Steves guidebooks in tow. I too like Rick Steves advice, but I never thought the entire hotel would be his fans. It's not really a reason to stay away as everyone in the hotel was courteous and quiet. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterDirections: Great auto free market street. |
The hotel is located in one of the best positions (Rue Cler) in Paris if you are looking to walk to places like the Eiffel Tower (5mins), Champs Elyses, Arc de Tromphe etc. However the rooms are small and the one we stayed in a little past its prime. It is clean and inexpensive (85-106 euro) but noisy. We did not find the staff very helpful and the breakfast, though cheap (8 Euro) was unimaginative (tinned fruit salad and atrocious, vending machine coffee). We would recommend it for location and cost only.
The market street Rue Cler and its close proximity to the heart of Paris. Great little shops in the vicinity.
