Paris Surprise
We had a really hard time even getting through to make a reservation for Paris, so I left Nice for Paris on the overnite train(sleeping bearths are HIGHLY recommended) with a little trepidation not knowing if we would have a place to sleep the next nite. Arriving in Paris I went to the reservation office in the Gare de Lyon and 10 minutes later I had a room at the right price within a 10 min walk from the train station. Not only was it within our budget, our room at the Grand Hotel Chaligny had a bathroom WITH shower AND a TV with CNN!!!!(we hadn't heard any North American News in two weeks, let alone watch it in English) We felt very spoiled after our weeks of pensiones and hostel accommodations!!
In Sept 97, we paid 256FF per night and got a double bed with bath(incl, shower-which was CLEAN!) and TV
