 | Paris Grand Hotel des Balcons Reviews | 1 - 9 of 9 | |
Our party at breakfast by rexvaughan This hotel is a very nice value and located just down the street from the Odeon theatre about 2 blocks off Blvd St. Germain. The staff is very attentive and helpful, the rooms were small, but very nice and the price was reasonable. The only thing I did not like about it was the shower - and that only because it was so small. It is convenient to the Odeon Metro and all the shops and restaurants along St. Germain. I would give it a high recommendation.
The location is on a very short one-way street so there is not a lot of noise or traffic. One of its great features is a wonderful breakfast in a most attractive room. Available were cereal, yogurt, cheese, sausages, some of the best bacon I have tasted, eggs and breads.

I stayed 5 nights at this hotel and loved the location. It's close to the St Germain/Latin quarter but it's on a quiet street. The closest subway station is Odeon, only a couple of blocks away.
This is a 2 * star hotel that should be 3 *. The staff is friendly and speaks English. Our double room was small but adequate and was 90 Euros last year. I believe the rates in the summer are about 110 euros. It's a clean hotel and the buffet breakfast is excellent (10Euros). I noticed several French office workers who were staying at this hotel for the week. The hotel is NOT air-conditionned, so I don't know what it would be like during a summer heat wave. There is a small elevator. The neighborhood felt very safe and we walked in the neighborhood late at night. This hotel is excellent for its price (we paid 100 euros for a queen-size bed room) and perfectly located near Jardins du Luxembourg, Théatre de l'Odéon, and not far from Blvd St Germain. The decoration is pleasant, it is very clean and the staff is really nice. They do not have air conditioning, but provided a fan during the summer heat. The street, Casimir Delavigne, is quiet so a room on street side is no problem. Also, there was albsolutely no cigarette smoke smell anywhere in the hotel, a blessing in Paris! We loved it
Excellent value for the location and quality of the rooms. Close to RER B station which is the direct train line to Charles de Gaulle airport. I felt this hotel's accommodations were almost the same as shown on the website. We stayed the standard twin that was not very wide and beds were tiny but lovely decorated. Yes, windows couldn't be wide opened as beds were in the way. We pushed the beds toward the wall on the other side, and then we got a cool breeze and fresh air. No air-condition is OK in September. From the balcony, we can see the Theater Odeon and street of Paris(5th floor). Buffet breakfast will be good for the large breakfast. We had a lot and we don't have to eat lunch, so 10 euros were value. Front Staffs were helpful for 24 hours(I asked a staff to open the wine bottle at 2 a.m.). Though it's a little hard to get used to use a bathtub without shower curtain(many Paris' hotel don't have), our stay was comfortable.
Water supply was very good. We even could make instant noodles with the hot water of the faucet. You don't need a Water Heater. Wonderful location enabled you to walk to the Notre Dame, d'Orsay, Louvre, especially Rue Mouffetard which has good food markets.

The hotel's namesake "balcons" or balconies by Gypsystravels Located in the heart of Latin Quarter this hotel was exactly what I was looking for during my very first visit back in the late 1990's. The hotel is really quaint on the outside with the charming balconies from which it derives its name from. The lobby is small but very charming. The owners are friendly and very knowledgable and will assist you in any question you may have regarding Paris. I was traveling on my own druing this very first visit and I wanted to be in a centrally located area. The metro stop is a few blocks and so is the Odeon theatre, many eateries and walking distance to the Luxembourg gardens. A very hip and centrally located hotel with a very good price. I paid $75 a night for a single.
The hotel is centrally located in the St. Germain des Pres area, close to the Palace du Luxembourg and the Pantheon, movie theatres and many cafes and shops. The metro stop is the O'deon.

View from the balcony on the fifth floor by blueeyeddreamer This hotel is in a wonderful location very near the Luxembourg Gardens. It is on a quiet little street so you don't hear a lot of traffic. It is located in the St. Germain area and it is not far to walk to the river, Notre Dame, Louvre, etc. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. They arranged two minibus tours for us which were excellent. They have an amazing breakfast buffet at the hotel or you can have a really nice continental breakfast in your room. (Nothing like the Continental breakfast in the States.)

Beaucoup des balcons by Radiomom Currently (2002) they are quoting about 90Euro for doubles, 70 for singles. All rooms have en suite baths.
The art deco lobby, breakfast room, and stairway are lovely. The chandaliers simply blew me away. The staff is tremendously helpful. Oh yes, and the 10euro per person breakfast buffet turns out to be a bargain if you like a large meal (and pretty much endless coffee!) in the morning. Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: It is in the 6th, use the Odeon Metro stop. A couple of blocks in the other direction is Luxembourg Gardens. An ideal location, on a quiet street, yet very close to many wond

The hotel is well appointed. The rooms are what you expect of a hotel in Paris: ie small. I admit, I was shocked when there were no shower curtains, but I got over this shock. What is absolutely great about this hotel is the location. Close to so much: St. Sulpice, the metro, Boulevard St. Michel/St. Germaine. A short walk to Notre Dame and the Luxembourg Gardens. Perfect. A small hotel on the Left Bank close to St.Germain. The room was medium sized with a decent bathroom. The room was very clean, the staff helpful and they allowed us to check in early.
A little tiny balcony overlooking a quiet street. Our room was 110 US per night. Theme: HotelComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Close to Luxumbourg garden about a ten minute walk to the Seine, Louvre and Notre Dame.
