Some Urgent Questions on Paris

by Nissanmit

Hi I am travelling down to Paris tomorrow. Understand most shops and places of interest will be closed on 1 Jan New Year's Day.

Have a few related questions:

1) Are Versaillies Palace or the Louvre open on 2 Jan?

2) I am staying at the Alane Hotel on Boulevard Magenta. How much would it cost for me to get a taxi to CDG airport?

3) Other transfer options besides taxi and Metro?

Thanks.

Hi

The Louvre is open on the 2nd - http://www.louvre.fr/llv/pratique/horaires.jsp?bmLocale=en. Versailles website here - http://www.chateauversailles.fr/en/

We stayed in the 7th and from the airport the cost for a taxi was E60 - traffic was heavy. We used Paris Shuttle -http://www.parishuttle.com - for the return journey and they were fine but there is also Blue Vans - http://www.paris-blue-airport-shuttle.fr or Yellow Van - http://www.yellowvanshuttle.com.

Good luck.

there are several great posts on the VT Paris Transportation tips on getting from CDG to Paris center. It appears your hotel is just a short walk from Gare du Nord. Taking the RER B line from CDG to Gare du Nord would be relatively easy as long as you are not traveling during rush hour. As mentioned, the taxi to / from CDG is going to be a minimum of 60 euro, plus there could be a charge for luggage. After that you have shuttle, bus or RER. Karl
