Nice Hotel République/Marais, Paris 3rd Arr France
Nice quiet clean hotel, reasonably priced. Nice alternative to Hotel de L'Esperance (see my other tips above) if the later is full. It is not a hotel one wants absolutely go to, it is rather impersonel and spartan, but it is reasonably well located. Anyway, when you go to Paris, it is not to stay in your hotel room!
Located at Place de la R?publique, walking distance of the wonderful district of Marais (Place des Vosges, museum Picasso, museum Carnavalet, old jewish quarter, gay district) and Canal St Martin.

Single room: 125 €uro
Double room: 140 €uro
Twin: 170 €uro

Hello!
Any chance I can get a hotel room, one-person rate with bathroom in room, in a charming hotel for $40-$50 in Marais, near metro and/or near one of the Gares?

What your looking for will set you back at least $75-$80 a night - remember the dollar has depreciated vis a vis the Euro over the past year.

We found a little hotel near Place de Republique a couple of years ago that fitted your description, but with the euro being stronger than the dollar - it might be more now.

I went once to Hotel Americain which is located just North of Le Marais, at Place de la Republique. It was a very nice hotel. Might be a little pricey for what you are looking for, however.
