Perfect location

We just returned from a 5 night stay at the Hotel Britannique. Small but super clean room in the heart of the 1st with easy walking access to almost everything we wanted to see. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was small but adequate although, unlike the earlier reviewer, we had a room in the back of the building on the 6th floor which was quite dark.
One thing I would like to add- we were at this hotel when the fire broke out in Paris on Friday. Like most small hotels in the city, there is only one staircase in the building and the smoke alarms are only in the hallways, not in the individual rooms. Even before the fire, we were slightly concerned. Next time, we will request a room on a lower floor.
Great place, great staff

Stayed over news year and couldn't be happier. Great rooms, breakfast was wonderfully fresh and plentiful and the staff were full of great advice and accurate information about Paris and how to get from A to B. It was so good I almost thought it was a 4/5 star hotel in disguise. Top location in Paris, top staff. Top hotel.
Fabulous!

Wonderful location, and a great value. Our room was charming, quiet and clean. Despite it's charm- it also had good lighting, enough closet space, a nice tub/shower, a comfy bed and good ventilation. We will definitely stay here again.
Very Nice

We stayed at the Hotel Britanique for one night at the end of February, 2005. Snow and freezing, windy weather in Paris at that time. I agree with all of the other posting that I have read here. The room was clean, attractive and small - but no smaller than the usua parisian hotel. It had wonderful public areas and a great breakfast that would take me through the morning. My sole complaint is that, at least in my case, I did not think the hotel worth the 200 euro per night cost. Maybe I am just too cheap.
Magic!

We visited this hotel for my wife's 40th birthday and were not disappointed .. it was magic! The hotel is located in a quiet side street off of the main road close to the Louvre, Notre Damme and 150m to a metro station. We had a room on the 5th floor, with a balcony overlooking the street, ideal for early evening wine, watching the world go by before dinner in the delightful Bistro du Vins just around the corner. The room was quite small but adequate and very clean with a decent bath, shower and effective air conditioning .. no mouldy grout here! A very comfortable bed in a beautifully decorated room complete with tasteful canopy gave for a very romantic weekend. Mini-bar prices weren't overly excessive at 3 euros a drink. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The hotel even left a gift of flowers and a birthday card. Breakfast continued the high standard with all you can eat of the usual selection of cereal. meats, cheeses, yoghurts, freshly squeezed fruit juices, fresh fruit, and of course pains au chocolat and croissants, all for 13 euros. Overall a fabulous hotel that we would recommend to anyone. We will return!
Great Stay

I, my wife, and another couple took a short three night trip to Paris in February 05 and stayed at the Hotel Britanique. I chose it after reading countless reviews of many hotels. What sold me was that it seemed as if there were no bad reviews of this hotel, and for good reason. The rooms where small compared to American standards, but very adequate and the bathroom was plenty big enough. Big on my wife's list is cleanliness in hotels and she had no complaints. The staff was great at suggesting places to eat and making reservations. We forgot our confirmation for one evening and they got us everything we needed. To top it off they had reserved a shuttle for us to the airport, but it canceled and before we even arrived downstairs they had arranged for a taxi to take us at the same rate.
Location, Staff, ambiance, and cleanliness make this an easy choice when we return to Paris.
Great little Hotel

We booked this hotel based on the recommendation of a friend and absolutely loved it. The location is FANTASTIC. Rooms are small but extremely clean and the bathrooms were fabulous with big fluffy bath robes and a decent hairdryer. Super friendly staff and a nice sitting area downstairs. We did not have breakfast there because we wanted to try the little patisseries in the area. There is a nice one around the corner but like all patisseries it is closed on Sundays and Mondays. There are planey of eating options in the area. The hotel carries umbrellas and has maps and other information to acquaint you with Paris.

Hotel Britannique and BEDS
by anna74
Hello,
Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Britannique? I want to stay in the 1st district for my trip this May but I'm not sure about what hotels are worth the value (about $200 per night).
Also, very important, on all of the pictures of rooms at various hotels, the double beds seem to be very small. I will be traveling with my sister and we don't mind sharing a bed, but the pictures I've seen look more like the size of one and a half twins. I am imagining this?
Thanks so much in advance!

The Hotel Britannique provides a room with two beds for 171€ tax include.
It is a nice accomodation, centrally located near le Chatelet, ile de la Cite, Notre Dame, la Sainte Chapelle.
The pet shops of quai de la megisserie is close to the hotel.
But you can find in this district several *** for a lower price (130€).
In the Paris hotel there are not king bed. Generally, you find queen beds that means 140 cm large.
I wish you a good stay.

The hotel Britanique is very nice, but rooms are smalls.
Paris is a small city, in the historic center room are not very big usually 15-20m square for a 3 stars.
You can find more hotels at :

You can always ask for two single beds at the moment of reservation. That won't be a problem...
