Helpfulness
Hotel Caulaincour
If you dont like exercise then stay away fromt his hotel. I counted almost 100 steps to my bedroom from the local metro station, which is a lot when you have luggage with you.
This restaurant is ideal for those on a right budget, back packers and students. If youre a business traveller or a prefer safety, security and easy access this isnt the place for you.
I found the staff very helpful and I suspect they found me useful too, after fixing their wireless broadband most of the people in the lobby were very pleased.
I stayed here for 3 nights and I got used to the stairs and noise.
Unique Quality: Very hilly area of Paris, free broadband when it works and extremely cheap accomodation. A bit far from the centre and from La Defense. Very near to the Sacre Coeur
Opinion of Price: least expensive

Hotel Caulaincourt Square
310FRF for a double room or 250FRF for a single
Unique Quality: It's cheap for paris and clean. Yopu can pay less if you chose a room without a toilet and it's very close to Sacre Coeur.
Located on the hill top near Sacre Couer. This was a good little hotel. Since the Aloha Hostel was over booked they recommended this quaint hotel. This by far was one of the better accommadations in Paris I have experienced. Located in a nice neighborhood only a 15 min walk to Sacre Couer and great views. Helpful staff, on top of the hill therefore has good views, near the metro stop Lamark - Caulaincourt.
A small village in the heart of Paris?
by ckdexter
Montmartre's my favorite historic Paris neighborhood, but it's far too touristy and crowded around Sacre Coeur. Don't know if this is still true (it's been 10 years), but the area around the Rue des Abbesses metro stop was at the time I lived there like another world. Like a quaint village on the top of a hill, a little world unto itself in the middle of paris and just down the road from the touristy madness of Place du Tertre. Probably no longer has that charm (I'm sure the Amelie movie has made it much more touristy), but worth a look for the locale, the distinct (for Paris even) architecture, and the geography, --and the beautiful canopied art nouveau metro entrance. While you're there, wander the overlooked parts of Montmartre around the Abbesses and Lamarck-Caulaincourt Metro stations, climb the endless flights of stairs, stumble onto an actual vineyard and a real, working windmill (at rue des saules and st vincent--or maybe it's Rue Lepic and Rue Girardon?), or the lovely old cafes frequented by locals that can be found on the hidden streets. Try the cafe Cepage at Square Caulaincourt. You can also find the historic Lapin Agile cabaret in this area.

Which Hostel?
by Kaazmar666
Anyone familiar with: Hotel Caulaincourt Square or Peace and Love Hostel?
Both are in Paris, and I have heard good things about both, but that the first is more chill (although rude staff) and the second is super friendly and fun and sort of a party-all-night (or at least till the bar closes at 2am) kinda place.
I'm really down with either ideology, but has anyone been to either of these places and have an opinion?
Thanks, Jason
