Rue Deguerre

by xiki66

Looking for a suitable hotel with a family room, I came across Hotel Montparnesse Deguerre in the 14th. What is the hotel like? Is the area OK? Any additional information regarding Rue Deguerre and the area around like restuarants, shops and attractions is most welcome. I shall be travelling next july with my wife and two kids 6 and 10.

Hi,

In fact you'll stay in Hotel MONTPARNASSE DAGUERRE in the 14th. I don't know this hotel but the area is definitly nice and safe. You'll find nice restaurants in the street "rue DAGUERRE" and in Montparnasse district around the big building.

Travel Tips for Paris

Paris is one of those cities that's on the move.

by nvg

Paris is one of those cities that is always on the move...but never seems to change. In the last 10 years of my visits to Paris.. I've noticed that the traffic has declined a bit. This is mainly because alot of people in Paris stopped owning a car. If you have a car driver's license you can drive a motorcycle up to 125CC. This is a good way to travel so you see alot of them around. You can also rent them there for a pretty reasonable price. This includes helmet rental. For some tourists it's better to travel with an organized tour bus company.

Take in the atmosphere and sites that are all around you. Walking down the streets where the street artists are, you can see some amazing pictures walking down the streets of paris. The buildings in Paris are also a work of art.

Parc des Buttes Chaumont

by GUYON

Do a "promenade" in the Parc des Buttes Chaumont in the North East of Paris (Métro : Buttes Chaumont or Botzaris) Certainly, the most romantic garden of Paris. Rather unknown by the tourists. It covers 25 hectars and has 3,5 kilometers of 'promenade'.
A lake in the middle with an island relied by a bridge and on the top a tiny temple.
It was set up at the request of Napoleon III on the site of an ancient quarry.
The best place for couples of lovers.

There are 400 gardens in Paris. See some of them on the travelogue :' Paris Gardens'

Metro music

by MedioLatino

If you have seen some musicians on the street you will see a lot more in the metro! There is one in almost every metro station playing the most diverse genres possible.

Most of them are using a battery powered device to give background music for their play, like this guy, who actually got on the metro! :)

Interesting Metro-stations

by Pieter11

The Paris Metro cannot only be very helpful to get around the city. It also can be a very interesting source of information. On line 1(the yellow line) there are three stations the are interesting:

- Station Bastille shows you a cartoon-alike image of the French history that took place on the square above the station: The French Revolution.

- Station Tuileries shows lots of articles from the whole of the 20th century and gives you a nice image of the history of the past century.

- Station Louvre-Rivoli is all designed to show the wealth of the museum above. Lots of nice statues are exposed in, to my opinion, the most beautiful station you´ll find in Paris.
