Morlaix
by freya_heaven
There is nothing special to see in Morlaix, but is it quite a large town (by bretagne standards) and is pleasent to wander around.
As you can see by the photo, the town is dominated by a 58 meter high Viaduct, built in 1863 for the Paris to Brest Railway.
One place it is worth stopping at Morlaix is the Wonderful "Grande Cafe De La Terrasse". The Waiting staff all wear bow ties, waist coats and aprons, It is beautifully done out inside with an upmarket feel to it, and also had a terrace outside.
It is quite a comical place because as immaculate as the cafe itself it, you go to the loo down a dark, dingy back passageway. It feels like the back stage of a theatre
Restaurant de la terrasse at La Samaritaine
by sue_stone about Restaurant de la terrasse at La Samaritaine
If you find yourself shopping in the Samaritaine Department store and want to have a meal/coffee/drink, then you can do no better than a visit to the Terrace Restaurant/Café on the 10th Floor.
Ok, it isn't the cheapest option….or the best food….but that view!!
The Terrace Restaurant is an open air café with magnificent views of the Seine and the Left Bank, including the Eiffel Tower in the distance.
It is not open during winter or if the weather is particularly bad. When it is open, you can enjoy lunch or snacks and in summer also dinner. Even if you are not hungry I would highly recommend a trip up to the 10th floor just to look at the view.
We had lunch here on a very windy day - it was pretty cold, but worth it. We both had a Croque Monsieur and a glass of red wine. The food was simple but tasty. But as I said, it is not about the food.
***** JAN 2006 - SAMARITAINE IS CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS - PLEASE CHECK THEIR WEBSITE BEFORE YOU TRY AND VISIT! *****

"Les jardins du château"
J'ai principalement choisi de visiter Villandry à cause de ses jardins, qui sont vraiment magnifique même au mois d'avril.
