Tips for Bagnolet area please...

by jemima62

Well we have just returned from our Spring trip to Paris where we stayed in the Marais and had a wonderful time. Tips to follow soon!

I'm lucky enough to be getting a second trip this year. I sing with a large community choir and at the end of August we will be descending on Paris to sing both at Disneyland and in the gardens of Notre Dame. We will be staying in Bagnolet and whilst I know we can get the metro into the centre of Paris (on line 3), I'm not sure how much free time we will have so I'm looking for some tips for any local restaurants or bistros please?

Cantina Mundo is at 7, rue Marceau, Bagnolet, France and the phone is
01 4363 2695

Le Bal Perdu is at 2, Rue Charles Graindorge, 93170 Bagnolet and I didn't see a phone number for it.

You can use Google maps to help you locate it. Just type in the address. http://maps.google.com/

I have not eaten at either of these place, just noted the person who recommended them didn't give an address and thought that might help you plan.

You might also check Trip Advisor. Just type Bagnolet restaurants into the search window. http://www.tripadvisor.com

Enjoy your trip.

Travel Tips for Paris

Enjoy the view from the Sacre Coeur in Montmartre

by extrajoce

Notre-Dame de Paris holds a special place in my heart as a Parisian, but only the Sacre Coeur in Montmartre offers the full view of Paris, and makes for a great introduction to the diversity of the city.
Just sit on those steps and grasp the view.
As you walk east, you will see the Eiffel Tower, going towards the Place du Tertre where all the painters offer to draw your portrait. A traditional tourist trap...

Crêpes

by iamjacksgoat

A great thing to buy if you are hungry and on the move is a crêpe. There are many street vendors selling crêpes, which all kinds of delicious items to fill them with. You can get a sweet crêpe, with chocolate sauce or bananas. On the other hand, you can get a lunch-like crêpe, with ham, cheese, etc. They are very handy for a tourist on the move.

On the downside, these street vendor crêpes are no where near as good as crêpes that you buy in nicer restaurants. However, if you don't have the time to sit down, a street vendor is a quick alternative.

Strolling Blvd St Germain *5e & *6e

by shrimp56

On my last trip I strolled along St Germain [north side] from the Arab Insitute in the 5th to the Odeon metro station in the 6th. Along the way I peeked into many windows of shops and restaurants. The pictures show some cool t-shirts and a lovely Moroccan restaurant. Just being able to walk without a purpose and enjoy what Paris provides!

THE SKY IS HIGH .....

Get yourself be catapulted up to the top of that Modern Arche and enjoy!!

You can see the elevator somewhat to the left of the arche and buy a ticket there too.
After that you will be up in a sec to where you can walk around to enjoy the view over PARIS, have something delicious to eat & drink........

Have tea there and sniff the clean air there!!

Deep down at the back of the arche you can see the very old grave yard / cemetary of Paris!

Horse Racing Longchamps

by Puckfair

We decided on the Sunday to Go to Longchamps and so went after Notre Dam

Cause it was Sunday , for some reason there was alot of families there and More interestingly it Was Free !!!

Also when u come out the Main intrance of the racecourse there were free buses laid on which brings u back again to Port maillot

It was a lovely day , and nice to feel you could put a good few flutters on the horses , shame i did'nt win anything !!

i think it started about 2 and goes on till nearly 6, the Programmes on that day were free, so you could follow along which race was coming up
You can bet minimum was 2 euros and then it went up , there is a fun fair there for the kids , Icecream stands, and also for the younger kids a small pony that you have to pay for rides, There is a queue for this and i m not sure how expensive it was , but i guess if you got in free it woud'nt be too bad
Very enjoyable day out, and as it was free that was an added bonus the Closest easiest way to get there we found was Line 1
Direction 'La Grande Arche de la Défense'

Go to Porte Maillot
we were coming from Grands Boulevards which Is Line 8 for example so the Route we Took was
#Grands Boulevards
Richelieu/Drouot
Opéra
Madeleine
#Concorde
Concorde
Champs Elysées/Clémenceau
Franklin-D Roosevelt
George V
Charles de Gaulle/Etoile
Argentine
#Porte Maillot

it was an estimated 25 minutes then We got out at the exit for Charles de Gaulle and took the 124 Bus
