Slept there 2 nights last summer and was very pleased.
I was told that the hotel got totally renovated a couple of years ago and you can see it. It is modern, cosy, calm and a definite parisian touch. My room was on the back building and so was very quiet. I had a huge paintaing of Seurat, The Circus in my room and I just love it. Breakfast was just perfect in a glass roof room. The area is great; just next to Gare Montparnasse, so convenient for those who come from the west part of France with TGV or have to go there; I had a dinner at the restaurant on the top of the Tour Montparnasse which is horrible from outside but provides an unbelievable view of Paris from the top. The street of the hotel is full of cafe, theaters, nice shops and nice buildings. And the rate, well, check its website but I consider it very affordable.
Unique Quality: Very convenient area full of restaurants, bars, shops and an open market on saturday
