Good For Families
when you have an early flight outta town...
...it helps to be very near the Opera, so you don't have to take any metro to reach the Roissybus stop at the corner of rues Auber and Scribe...
Unique Quality: our room had two windows, that's always a nice feature...and CNN, which you always need these days...
Hotel Helder Opéra
This has to be the cheapest place I stayed in Paris, not without some fights with a rude "lady" who works there in the morning... but forget her - her husband and the thin guy who works the night shift are very kind. Only stay there if you're alone and don't want to pay more than about €55 - 70. The rooms are very small, but new and clean; they have one of those Parisian elevators where you cannot fit in if you're carrying a small backpack, but you can always send your luggage, run up the stairs, go back down, and do it again a few more times!!
Unique Quality: Practically ON the Grands-Boulevards, very near the Opera Garnier and the two main department stores in town... plus a great number of restaurants around, safe and filled with people day and night. Excellent price/benefit.
Directions: From the Place de l'Opéra, walk the Boulevard des Italians some 50 meters and take the second left (rue du Helder): the hotel will be just a couple of steps from the Grands-Boulevards themselves!
