Worst Hotel EVER
Dirty smelly hotel with dust bunny's under the beds. The bed covers were very dirty, and the pillows were NASTY and smelly. Bathroom door had no knob and they provided only soap.
Street outside is extremely noisy and dirty.
Staff was not helpful or nice.
Breakfast in the morning was minimal and poor.
All this at an expensive rate!
DO NOT GO HERE!!

Unfortunately there are no reviews for the Altono. Anyway, hotels near train stations, in general, are usually basic hotels. Train station areas, again, in general, are not the best areas to be located. However, it also depends on the actual location so sometimes it's not so bad.

thanks for all the help. Actually the other hotel is called Altona Hotel. Thats where i am booked in for though I can change it to Liege strasbourg but i guess I will keep the bookign and notget into a fluster. I am actually from South Africa so pretty sure we can look after oursleves.

If you want some other ideas, check out www.ratestogo.com. I got a really nice hotel deal through them last summer. Personally, the area around Gare du Nord looked scary to me and I used to live near NYC!
