BEWARE of Hidden Charges

BEWARE: This hotel charged me 226 euros for a 5 minute call made to Pennsylvania. I was totally blind sided. The manager was not a bit sympathetic to this outrageeous charge.

The place is livable but not a 4star hotel. The hotel was off the beaten path but this did not matter once you master the Metro which is fantastic!

Of course, I would not stay there again and would not recommend anyone else.

trip to Paris

Hello Travelers
We booked 1 double room and 1 twin room for our stay as we were 4 adults traveling together. We Asked for adjoining rooms, but this was not possible. Our stay at the Lattre Hotel was very nice. The Rooms were of good size. The Bathroom was very spacious. Most of the Hotel staff were very friendly.

We especially liked the Location of this hotel. Its very close to a train station which has direct links with the Airport, Euro Star and a number of the tourist sites. The nearest station to the hotel is Montparnasse - at the base of Rue de Rennes. Just make sure you exist at the right exist. I think it was from the Green Line (12) metro platform.
The hotel is just off a very popular street for shopping. The Breakfast was also good.

The only down side was the receptionist tried to get us to update to a suite, which they had available as they were not very busy wanting to charge an extra 90 euro's per night. When we said no, her attitude was rather dismissive, and she didn't take the time to explain the locality and facilities within the hotel like the other reception staff.

Unique Quality: Close to the Metro

More about Hotel Littre

Lovely Hotel!

by A TripAdvisor Member

My fiance and I stayed at the Hotel Littre on 3 June 2006 for three nights (we booked on line through Hotelsrus) and we found it to be an excellent hotel. It probably helped that when we arrived we were delighted to be told that we had been upgraded to a deluxe suite as all the standard rooms were fully booked. The staff were friendly and helpful the breakfast was also great with lovely fresh coffee, croissants, selection of cheese, sausages, bacon, fruit, yoghurt, cereals etc. The location of the hotel was perfect with plently of lovely bars, pavement cafes and restaurants to choose from. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Paris.

Wonderful

Having never been to Paris before, we really didn't know how best to book a hotel. After reading reviews on the hotel littre we opted for it and couldn't have made a better choice. The staff were friendly and helpful and will even give you a map of the area, which proved very useful. The hotel is in such a great location for shops, bars and restaurants, and within easy reach of all the major tourist attractions.
Hotel is a little on the expensive side, but well worth it for the location.
A must when in Paris is to visit the Cathedral Notre Dame, we were just blown away with the beauty of it.

LOVE IT!!

My first time visit to Paris was fantastic!!My mother and i spent 3 nights (June 11-14,2006) at Hotel Littre and we loved it!! we got there but our room was not ready so they made us set dpwn at lobby lounge for a few minits and gave us a welcome drinks !!(^^)
Room was so clean and size was perfect for 2 people , our room was facing back yard but it was okay we did not spend room during the day anyway.

We did not spent breakfast at hotel during but it was no problem at all there were Cafe place just around corner and if you just want to get a French Bread you can get it from little bakery place front of Littre hotel.
i really felt safe around the area and easy access to everywhere and you can shop on the main street and it was just fantastic i really like to go back there again anytime!!

Excellent! Large & clean rooms. Friendly staff.

Me and my wife statyed here 27th to 30th May 2006. After searching extensively on Tripadvisor for a budget hotel offering large rooms, air conditioning, good sized clean bathrooms with shower, friendly service in a hotel located convieniently for sightseeing - I gave up.
Not wanting to sacrifice any of those things, I searched for slightly more expensive hotels and found Hotel Littre. I was not disappointed and would go definately go back.

Our room was a standard double. It was very spacious. Though there was no view, it had a balcony and was quiet. Also came with mini-bar and a room safe (free). The bathroom was large and clean and towels and toiletries were replenished every day.
The only downside was 15 euro for breakfast-but this is common in all hotels. There is a great bakery shop just before the post-office Boulangerie Littre. Buy a filled baguette for 2euro.

This is a family run hotel and all staff were friendly and helpful.

Rue littre is a quiet side street just 3 minutes walk from the metro (Montparnasse Bienvenue) giving quick access to all the sights. For a long weekend we got by with a "carnet" book of 10 metro tickets. Paris is a city for walking so we would get a metro to one location eg Arc du Triomphe, then walk along Champs Elysee to the Louvre then head back to hotel from there. We walked from the hotel to Notre Dame and discovered a lovely park- Jardin de Luxembourg. Highly recommended for strolling and watching the locals.

It seems Parisiennes have a reputation for being rude-but we never experienced this. I think it is often the tourist that un-initentionally starts out being rude and this is then returned. The secret? Say "bonjour" whenever you meet anyone no matter who they are! This will often prompt Parisiennes to start talking English as your effort to at least say hello in French is most appreciated. End with a thank you "Merci beacoup".
hope this helps.

My girlfriend and I booked our weekend trip via the Eurostar website. Hotel Littre's location suited us very well. We walked or took the Metro to all of the sites without much trouble. There are plenty of good restaurants, brasseries, delicious bakeries and shops near by too.

Overall we were satisfied with the Hotel, it did seem a bit stuck in the late 1970's, but the staff were polite and attentive and our room was clean and quiet. How ever we were non-plussed as to why it was classed as a four star hotel. Our room and en-suite bathroom were in serious need of decoration as it all felt a bit tired and worn. There were no special touches usually associated with a four star hotel.

One last thing, on Sunday evening we told front desk staff about our intention to check out at 10am on Monday and asked about the need to book a taxi to Gar Du Norde. We were told not to worry they could organise this in the morning, no problem. Monday morning, after settling our extra's bill we pottered off for a final stroll with our baggage left in reception.

On returning we asked for our taxi to be called, only to be told rather snottily by reception, who seemed to have washed his hands of us, that it would be very difficult because of the fare!? We waited patiently whilst a really sweet guy (desk porter?) tried in vain to get us a taxi, but we ended up rushing to the station via the Metro, a bit of a struggle with all our baggage and left us feeling a bit peeved to say the least. We would try somewhere else next time.

Friendly staff, great location.

We had a nice stay at the littre. The staff is very fiendly and speak perfect english. They showed me on a map the most important places to go, at our arrival.
The rooms are large, by paris standard. Very clean. The only "but" is the noise the plumbers does. When a neighbourg flushes the wc, you can hear it more clearly than you would like to.
The location is the best. Metro at 2 min walking, with very convinient correspondence. We went to tower Eiffel (15 min), Louvre, D'Orsay and mey others without changing metro line. Full brasseries (restaurants) and creperies near the hotel. Pizzas, chineese food, and good french restaurants as well.
Montparnasse is a good neighboughood to walk by. No crime, no bad looking guys...

We were in a normal room (no views to the outside), but there is superior, de luxe rooms and junior suites having views.

Breakfast is from 7-10 (but no problem if you go at 10:15 or 10:30). I'd come back to the hotel, no doubt.

great choice

by A TripAdvisor Member

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at the hotel litre in april. With so many hotels to choose from in Paris in was a difficult choice, but we could not have made a better one. The trip was my birthday present and the staff upgraded our room to a lovely suite, spacious with a beautiful pink marble bath. The staff were they friendliest we have met anywhere, helping with resevations directions and suggestions, they were a big part of making my trip to paris a dream come true. So if like us you are having trouble choosing a hotel in Paris look no farther this is the one.

Beyond brilliant

The hotel was beautiful, imaculately clean, comfortable and welcoming. The staff very helpful (and spoke english). They did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. The tour that they recommended to us was amazing.
The hotel is very close to the underground station, but is set down a back street so noise was not an issue. Everyhting we wanted was within easy reach by either walking or a short taxi ride (we didn't like travelling on the underground).
I would not hesitate to return there. It was a little more expensive that other hotels we stayed at during our trip but well worth the extra.

Re: Does Hotel Littre have wireless or cable internet connection in each room?

Looking at the website: There is definitely a business centre with wifi connection. However, where the listed hi-speed internet connection is available is not specified. However, again, the picture, in the middle of the three on the right-hand side of the opening page of the website, shows a laptop with a wireless mouse and obviously, no cables from the laptop, and the picture is taken in a room........ so, unless it is a case of misleading advertising, it seems that there is wifi in the rooms. It may be that not all rooms have wifi, some may have hi-speed connection. I would strongly suggest that you either telephone or email the hotel to find out definitely.
